Everything here is optional. naviList builds rules playlists from your Navidrome library alone. Connecting a service adds data or playlists. Credentials go on the Settings page, or in environment variables on first start. See Settings.
| Feature | Needs |
|---|---|
| Rules playlists from your library | Navidrome only |
| Similar Artists | nothing for ListenBrainz (the default). A Last.fm API key for Last.fm and for the fallback |
| Popularity | a ListenBrainz token, or a Last.fm API key |
| Top played / Recently played from a service | that service connected, and its history synced |
| ListenBrainz and Last.fm Playlists | the matching service |
| Sending missing artists to a downloader | Lidarr |
Needs an API key and your username. Get a key at https://www.last.fm/api.
After Sync All on the Services page, naviList has your listen history, loved tracks, top artists, top tracks, artist tags, similar artists and your chart playlists. Last.fm is also used as a backup source for Popularity and for Similar Artists.
Needs a token and your username. Find the token on your ListenBrainz profile under settings.
Sync All brings in your listen history, loved tracks, top artists, top tracks and the playlists ListenBrainz generates for you. ListenBrainz is the main source for Popularity and the default source for Similar Artists. Similar artists work without a token, but popularity needs one.
Thumbs-down tracks on ListenBrainz are remembered, and left out of rules playlists.
Maloja is a self-hosted scrobbler. Give naviList its URL and API key. Sync All brings in listen history, top artists and top tracks, which you can use in Rule Terms under Stats, with Maloja as the source.
If playlists you import or subscribe to contain artists that aren't in your library, naviList keeps a list of them. It can send those artists to Lidarr so you can get them.
Set it up on the Settings page: URL, API key, Root Folder, Quality Profile and Metadata Profile. Click Connect to load the profile lists.
You can send artists two ways:
- Manually: click Send Missing Artists on the Services page.
- Automatically: turn on Auto-add.
The Services page counts what's pending, sent to Lidarr, ignored (no MBID) and found in library. Artists without a MusicBrainz ID can't be sent and are ignored.
When Lidarr has downloaded something and naviList's next library sync finds the artist, the artist moves to found in library and naviList rebuilds your rules playlists so the new tracks can appear.
naviList doesn't download music itself. It only passes artist names to Lidarr.
You don't configure these.
- MusicBrainz is used for artist IDs, live-recording detection, artist tags and mood tags. naviList paces its requests to stay within MusicBrainz's limits.
- Deezer is used only for artist images, and only if Fetch artist images from Deezer is on under Library in Settings.
