Permissions

macOS permissions

Permission When Why
Notifications asked on first launch to show notifications
Local network asked the first time you use a server on your home network to reach a self-hosted server on your LAN

Turn notifications on or off later in System Settings › Notifications › NtfyBar. Settings › General shows the current state and has an Open System Settings button.

NtfyBar needs no Accessibility, Full Disk Access or other special access.

Notifications only work from the packaged app in /Applications. A swift run build has no bundle identifier and cannot notify. See Troubleshooting.

Plugin permissions

Plugins get no access by default beyond reading the message that triggered them. Anything more needs a permission that you approve one by one on the consent sheet, and can switch off later.

Permission Allows
(always) read the triggering message and that topic's label
history.read earlier messages of that topic
topics.read labels of all your topics
publish send to your topics (10 per minute, quiet hours apply)
clipboard.write put text on the clipboard
openURL open http/https links
storage up to 1 MB of its own data
ui its own popups with buttons

No permission allows running commands, network access, reading the clipboard or files, changing settings or subscribing to topics.
