The web dashboard

witekin edited this page Sep 13, 2026 · 3 revisions

Your charger's whole live view — in a web browser, no app.

No app needed Any phone or laptop Demo mode

📖 On this page

Every WinterDash serves its own web page. Open a browser on the same WiFi, type in the device's name, and there's the full dashboard — no app to install, and no Home Assistant needed.

The address looks like http://winterdash-a1b2c3.local/ (your device has its own letters and numbers — use the name shown on its screen or setup page). On a device with no screen, this page is the main way to see your charger; with a screen, it's the same information plus all the settings, on a bigger display.

📴 No WiFi where it's parked? The device's screen and status light work without WiFi — they read the charger over Bluetooth on their own. WiFi is only for this web page and Home Assistant. To reach the web page off-grid, point the device at a phone hotspot (re-run first-time setup for that network).

The page opens on the main view; the sections below are tap-to-open. (All screenshots are demo mode.)

The main view

The big at-a-glance readout: a banner image of your choice, the current voltage in large digits, a coloured status word (Charging / Charged / Idle / Fault…) with the exact charger phase and how long it's been in it on a line just beneath, a bar showing where the voltage sits in its expected range, and small current and temperature readouts. A DEMO badge shows here when you're in demo mode.

Temperature, DC voltage, current and power, and a short history of the charger's recent state changes (Bulk → Absorption → Float, faults, "No signal").

Network / Bluetooth

How the device is connected: Bluetooth signal to the charger and when it was last heard, WiFi quality, network name, IP address, device name, and whether Home Assistant is connected.

WinterDash Settings

Everything you can change. These are WinterDash's own settings — separate from your charger's settings, which you change in VictronConnect.

  • Device mode — Auto / Demo / Live.
  • Charger pairing — scan for nearby Bluetooth devices and enter your charger's address and Instant Readout key (full walkthrough: Connecting your charger).
  • Charger settings — the charge profile you picked in VictronConnect, and °C / °F. (The profile only tunes the dashboard's expected-range bar — it doesn't change the charger.)
  • WinterDash — the banner image gallery (and a + to make your own, see below), the timezone, and — on devices with a screen — brightness and screen-timeout sliders.

Make your own banner

Put your own car, motorcycle, or boat on the screen. WinterDash has a built-in converter (turn a photo into a clean cut-out), and can even have an AI draw your vehicle when you have no good photo. Full guide: Custom banners.

System

Device health and maintenance: free memory, and Reboot, Reset WiFi & setup, and Factory reset — each a hold-to-confirm button so nothing happens by accident.
