The installer doesn't see my board / won't connect
Almost always the USB driver or a charge-only cable. Install your board's driver (CP210x for most TTGO boards, CH340 for many generic ESP32s), use a data USB cable, then unplug/replug and try again. Web flashing needs desktop Chrome or Edge — not a phone, Safari or Firefox. Details: Install & update → Flash the board.
Flashing failed part-way
Unplug the board, plug it back in, and run it again. A different USB data cable or port often fixes it.
It flashed, but I don't see a WinterDashAP WiFi network
Unplug and replug it to power and wait ~20 seconds. A board with a screen shows the network name and a QR code. Full steps: Install & update → First-time setup.
I joined WinterDashAP but the setup form didn't open
Open http://192.168.4.1 in your phone's browser (or scan the QR on the screen).
It's on my WiFi but the web page won't open
Use the exact name it shows — something like http://winterdash-a1b2c3.local/ — from a device on the same WiFi.

It says "No signal" or shows no charger data
Turn on Instant Readout for the charger in the VictronConnect app (charger firmware 3.61+), and double-check the address and the Instant Readout key you entered. Walkthrough: Connecting your charger.
Temperature stays blank
Normal — many Blue Smart IP65 models (including the tested 12/5) don't broadcast temperature. See Reading your WinterDash.
It's not showing up in Home Assistant
It needs to be on the same network; HA discovers it automatically over the native API. What it exposes: Home Assistant.
I want to start fresh
Reset it — boards with a screen: the on-screen System menu; screenless boards: hold BOOT for ~5 seconds. Then redo First-time setup.
An update won't take
Re-flash with the browser installer — it always works. See Install & update → Updating later.
