Interest Groups

  • Preservation Interest Group (Donald/Nick)

    • PREMIS working group may take an interest in the audit services sprint happening in Fedora 4
      • use cases are in place and will be transposed into JIRA tickets for sprint works
      • This effort will provide an audit log for Fedora 3-> 4 migrations
      • PROV-O vs PREMIS
  • Archival Interest group (Melissa)
    • No updates. Need to find new convenor(s). Melissa to put out call on the listserv.
  • Fedora 4 Interest Group (Nick)
    • Nick and Danny had a pseudo- sprint during Code4Lib.
      • Danny did a proof-of-concept and presented at Code4Lib
      • Tech design docs have bene updated
      • Codename: Atonement. Trying to fix past mistakes.
    • Larger group met on Feb 27th
    • Nick used mkdocs to build documentation in Github.
    • Devops/vagrant stuff has been updated.
      • No more chef. Too much overhead.
      • Now done with plain old bash scripts. Takes about five minutes to deploy.
    • Focus for the rest of the month is Migration. Danny is 95% on the project starting Monday, and will work with Mike Durbin on migration.
      • Migration will happen in three parts: top level moves over, simple objects and container objects move over, then children move over.
      • Danny will also chop out tasks that can be completed by contributed/volunteer developers, with Nick's help (from PASIG). These will be recorded as tasks in the GitHub repo.

Islandora Camp updates

  • iCampEU2
    • 5 registrants + 4 promises
      • Camp will go ahead. The question now is if we can afford Alan for the dev track.
  • Islandora Conference
    • still scheduling next meeting
  • iCampCT - Will happen in last week of October. Just needs the location finalized.

Component offer - Islandora Form Fieldpanel - Ashok Modi <-- will need some review according to the LSAP. Went through the major steps. Readme adheres to standards.

  • Code looks solid. Donald has played with it but would like to try the latest version. In use in production at DPL.
  • Nigel did a quick test during the meeting. Vote held: + 1 from all present. Melissa will follow up with absentees.

CLAs

  • Should we publish a public list, like Duraspace and Hydra? * If so, where does it live? * Nick to try a proof on concept hosting it in Github with mkdocs
  • Message to the community (again, like Hydra )
    • Nick and Melissa will draft a message for Islandora, to be approved by Roadmap

New Business

  • Roundtable

  • Jen: UCT got funding to work with dgi. They will bring their Islandoras all to the latest version.

  • Nick: Release updated. Today is RC day. README and License audit is almost done. A few bug fixes creeping in under the wire. Nick will tag and pull together a release VM and put it up on Dropbox. York has some extra space to hist VMS, so we can have more than one at once.

  • Nigel: Islandora Sync is getting some love. Image Annotation has some small fixes. Mostly client work otherwise. Something mysterious and exciting for ingest is coming, but if Nigel told us...

Closing Remarks

Next meeting: March 20
