Installing and updating Privateer

Privateer supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. The packaged application includes its runtime, so you do not need to install Python separately.
- Download the Windows ZIP from the Privateer releases page.
- Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All.
- Keep the complete extracted folder together. Run Privateer.exe from that folder; do not move the executable by itself or run it inside the ZIP.
To update, close Privateer and extract the newer package to a separate folder. Your preferences normally remain in %APPDATA%\Privateer\settings.json and carry across versions. Keep your game saves and retained backups when replacing an application folder.
