Opening a campaign and making changes

Close Rule the Waves 3 before editing a campaign. Keep a known-good copy of the complete save folder.

  1. Choose Browse in Privateer's main window.
  2. Select an individual save-slot folder, such as Game3. Unlike the path in Settings, this must be the complete slot folder rather than its parent Save folder or an individual file.
  3. Check the loaded path and Player Nation label.
  4. Choose Validate and review the result before editing.
  5. Right-click the nation you want to manage and choose the appropriate manager.

The main table shows nations, the player marker, funds, base resources, and ship counts. Click a column heading to sort; click it again to reverse the order. Other sortable tables work the same way.

Reload rereads the selected campaign. Privateer asks before discarding applied but unsaved changes.

Understanding Stage Apply and Save

Changes pass through these steps:

  1. Edit or Stage: prepare changes inside a manager. Some managers have a separate Stage or Stage transfer button for a pending list.
  2. Apply: copy the manager's changes into Privateer's loaded campaign in memory. Aircraft Manager uses Create for this step and stays open so you can create additional models.
  3. Save or Save As: write the applied changes to disk from the main window.

Cancel discards the current dialog's pending edits. Where available, Reset changes restores the state from when that manager opened. Neither is an undo button for edits already saved to disk.

In Submarine Manager, Spawn, Rename, Delete and Repair prepare pending changes. Choose Apply to accept them; Cancel, Escape or closing the window discards them.

In Aircraft Manager, Close discards uncreated form edits but retains models already added with Create. Save or Save As is still required to write those models to disk.

A progress animation appears during longer operations. Wait for loading, validation, or saving to finish before starting another operation.
