World Mechanics
Coordinates
Every individual tile on the gird will have its own unique coordinates on the map. This is to allow more convenient strategising and planning for all players (i.e. locations of blueprints).
Movement
A player's squad will appear on one unit of the 1500x1500 map. The base number of steps of movement per turn is 6. Squads can gain more movement steps per turn by increasing the speed skill in the squad skill tree or increasing the squad leader's speed stat. Movement speed and species effects will be based on the squad's leader.
To use a race's special movement ability on the world map (flying for pegasi, teleport for unicorns, sprinting for Earth Ponies) at least 50% of the squad must consist of that race. Only then are the abilities unlocked.
Resources
Resources will play a role in how much monetary income commanders receive per turn. Resources can be harvested from resource terrains by constructing resource retrieval buildings, or factories, on them. The more valuable the resource, the more income will be generated, and the rarer the resource will be.
Commanders/Generals
Commanders/Generals will be the ones in charge of the overall strategy of the game, deciding how to spend funds and which buildings to build. They will be sending out orders/tasks to captains and squads to carry out in order to continue the war effort. Commanders will also gain the ability to layout blueprints for players to construct (i.e. Railroads). One squad of Royal Guard ponies will also be assigned to the commanders on both sides to protect them from enemy attacks.
Each game will contain 3 generals. When 2 out of 3 of the Commanders/Generals are dead, the game is over.
Captain’s Role
Captain's will be in charge of battle tactics, deciding whether squads will be allowed to reinforce other squads in skirmishes, controlling 10 squads at all times. Captains are also in charge of breaking down orders from Commanders/Generals into more manageable tasks for each Squad Leader. Like commanders, Captains will also be able to lay down blueprints to build, however blueprints available to them will be different.
Surrounding the Captains is a Radius of Command, which allows Captains to use skills to either damage or nerf enemy squads or buff squads under their command. Any squad that leaves this Radius of Command will automatically receive a nerf. The size of the Radius of command will start at 75 units, and Captains can increase said radius by leveling up the Radius of Command Skill.
Should a Captain fall in a skirmish, he/she will be sent to the nearest hospital, where they will stay for a X amount of time to recover. During this period, squads under their command will receive nerfs until they return to their own Radius of Command.
Captains when offline will also have some very basic AI, instructing them to keep within a relative radius of their squads. If captains are offline for an excessive amount of time (i.e around 3.5 days/250 turns), then a squad under said Captain can take over. The old captain will be demoted and create a "new" squad that was the original level of his captain character when he returns, while the new captain will receive a "new" captain character of his original squad's level. This promotion will either occur by vote or appointment by Commanders.
Squad’s Role(s)
Squad Leaders are the life and blood of the war effort, without them victory is unattainable. Players who are in this tier will be able to directly control a squad of 5-10 ponies(including the Squad Leader). Squad Leaders will carry out tasks given to them (i.e. constructing buildings, skirmishes) as quickly and efficiently as possible.
On the standard battle map, Squad Leaders can only control their units as a whole, not as individuals. Squads must also remain in a certain radius from their Captain or else strong penalty nerfs will occur to the squads out or range. Squads are also expected to defend their Captain should he/she fall under attack in a skirmish.
Upon their death, Squad Leaders will respawn at the nearest hospital. They are expected to return to their Captains ASAP.
