Health and Medical Care
The medical system tracks 11 body parts: head, neck, torso, left/right arms, hands, legs, and feet. Every part has its own health, injuries, bleeding, infection state, and functionality.
Open Equipment & Health and tap the body on the paperdoll to inspect injuries and available treatments. The summary shows overall status, total injuries, bleeding, infection, and armor.
- Minor: bruises and scratches
- Moderate: cuts, lacerations, and sprains
- Severe: deep cuts, fractures, and crush injuries
- Critical: compound fractures, zombie bites, and internal bleeding
- Other: infected wounds, burns, and systemic infection
Vital-part injuries are the most dangerous. Limb injuries can reduce or remove functionality even when overall HP remains relatively high.
| Treatment | Primary use |
|---|---|
| Bandage | Reduces bleeding; used on cuts, lacerations, and bites |
| Disinfect | Reduces or prevents infection in open wounds |
| Splint | Stabilizes fractures and restores limb functionality |
| Painkiller | Temporarily reduces pain |
Treatment consumes a matching medical item from inventory. If a treatment option reports a missing item, loot, craft, or buy that supply first.
Injuries progress from fresh through treated, stabilized, healing, nearly healed, and healed. Untreated wounds heal more slowly and may become infected. Correct treatment accelerates recovery and reduces complications; critical injuries require urgent care.
Medical items and injuries can apply timed effects. Positive effects include pain relief, regeneration, increased stamina, immunity, healing, stopped bleeding, and cured infection. Negative effects include bleeding, infection, poison, and starvation. Check Stats for active effects and the recent effect log.
- Stop severe bleeding.
- Disinfect open wounds and bites.
- Stabilize fractures.
- Restore health and manage pain.
- Eat, drink, and rest so starvation or exhaustion does not slow recovery.
