FAPI Working Group Call (Atlantic) - Meeting Notes

Authenticate Conference

  • Dates: 13th-16th (month not specified)
  • Location: CSPAR
  • FAPI Representative: Mike Jones

ODF Events (October 20th)

  • After-lunch workshops prior to IW
  • Registration required

IW (Identiverse/Identity Week)

  • Dates: October 21-23
  • Location: Mountain View
  • Attendees: Brian confirmed attendance; Nat Sakimura has not registered yet but plans to attend

IETF Meeting

  • Dates: November 12-17
  • Location: Montreal
  • Attendees:
    • Brian (in person)
    • Filip (not attending in person)
    • Nat Sakimura (planning to attend, not yet registered, will be flying to Montreal)
  • Notes: Nat mentioned he tries to attend at least one IETF per year; commented on pricing being expensive compared to Japanese Yen being cheap

FDX Virtual Summit

  • Date: November 6th

OECD Security Council Meeting

  • Same week as FDX Summit
  • Location: Paris
  • Note: Concern raised about overlapping events and need for better coordination

Action Items - Events:

  • Calendar maintained on website is current
  • Contact Mike for any additional events to be added
  • Nat to register for IW and IETF Montreal

5. Specifications and Standards Updates

HTTP Message Signing Specification - APPROVED ✓

  • Specification has been approved - congratulations extended to all contributors
  • Will be published
  • Comments received during public review period
    • Comments described as "not really material" according to Joseph
    • May eventually require an errata in the future
  • Specification being circulated to ISO as well
  • Expected that ISO publication coming soon
  • Some Government needs ISO version to reference the specification from legislation.

7. Pull Requests

General PR Status:

  • Most PRs are waiting for Dave's action
  • Dave noted as "pretty busy these days"
  • Current situation unchanged from previous meetings

PR #542:

  • Status: Needs approval
  • Action Required: All members requested to review
  • Note: Despite conflicts present, members asked to review if texts make sense
  • Deadline: Prepare for next call

Other PRs: Cannot be treated at this time due to dependencies


8. Issues Review

  • No issues updated since last call on September 24th
  • No new issues raised during the meeting

Issue #404 Discussion:

  • Raised by: Lukas
  • Topic: Extra OS (Operating System) specification
  • Content: How any extra OID should be interpreted related to VID (likely Video ID), registration attempts
  • Related to: Brazil or Brazilian regulations
  • Status: Lukas has not had chance to talk to Ralph about it yet; no updates made
  • Action Item: Lukas to follow up next week (hoping to complete)

Notes and Observations

  • Meeting was significantly shorter than scheduled due to limited attendance and fewer agenda items
  • Key decision-makers (Dave, Mike, Joseph) were absent, limiting ability to progress on certain items
  • First use of new Zoho capability for sharing group activities - functionality being evaluated
  • Strong emphasis on better event coordination needed across industry organizations
  • Positive milestone achieved with HTTP Message Signing Specification approval
