Getting started

The setup window

On the first login after installing, a small setup window pops up a few seconds after you're in the world. It never shows up in combat. There are two real steps.

Price sources. It shows whether TradeSkillMaster and Auctionator are installed and connected. If you have both, pick which one Goblinomics should ask first; the other fills the gaps. With TSM you can also change the price source used for item values. The default is DBMarket, and custom price strings work too.

Modules. Everything is on by default. If you don't care about crafting, switch off Workshop and it disappears from the window, the dashboard and the settings. Switched-off modules stop tracking, but whatever they already recorded stays.

You can skip the window. Nothing breaks, and /gob setup (or the button under Settings > General) brings it back whenever you like.

Show Goblinomics your stuff

This is the step people skip, and then they wonder why their wealth looks low.

Goblinomics can only count what the game lets it see. Your bags and equipped gear are always visible. Your bank, your mailbox and your auctions are not; the addon only sees them while they are open. So on each character, once:

  • open the bank (this also scans the warband bank),
  • open the mailbox,
  • open the auction house.

After that, every visit refreshes the snapshot. The Vault and Jealousmeter page explains how old data is handled.

Characters you never log into with Goblinomics installed simply don't exist for it. If you have an alt parked with 40k gold in a capital city, log in once.

Opening the window

Pick whatever suits you:

  • type /gob (or /goblinomics),
  • click the minimap button (right-click opens the settings),
  • use the addon compartment, the little list under the minimap,
  • set a key binding in the game's keybinding options (look for Goblinomics),
  • any Data Broker display (Titan Panel, ChocolateBar and friends) picks up the Goblinomics feed with your current gold.

The first time, the window opens on the Dashboard; after that it remembers the tab you were on. The tabs on the left take you to the modules.

What next

Play normally for a day. Sell something, repair, do a few quests. Then have a look at the Ledger and see where the gold went. If you have an older history in TSM Accounting or Journalator, Importing history saves you from starting at zero.
