Importing history
If you've used TSM Accounting or Journalator before, you already have months of gold history lying around in their saved data. Goblinomics can read it into the Ledger, so your charts don't start on the day you installed it.
Type /gob import. That opens the settings; pick Import on the left. (It's also simply Settings > Import.) The import section only loads when you open it, so it doesn't sit in memory the rest of the time.
The addon you import from has to be installed and enabled, because its saved data is only in memory while it's loaded. If TSM or Journalator shows as "not available", that's why. The Ledger module has to be switched on as well, since that's where everything goes.
For each source there are two buttons:
- Preview counts what would be imported, per category, split into new bookings and ones Goblinomics already knows. Nothing is written.
- Import does it.
Import all runs TSM first and then Journalator. TSM usually has the longer history, and Journalator fills in details TSM doesn't have.
It's a good idea to click Preview first and look at the numbers. If the "Known" column is suspiciously empty or the sums look odd, don't import, and tell me (Reporting bugs).
You don't need to worry about importing the same thing twice. Goblinomics compares every entry with what's already in the Ledger: same character, same kind of booking, within a few minutes of each other, and the same item and quantity (or the same amount if there's no item). Matches are skipped. This covers three cases:
- you import TSM and then Journalator, which recorded the same sales;
- you click Import twice;
- Goblinomics was already running while TSM or Journalator were recording.
TSM stores auction sales slightly differently from Goblinomics, and both use slightly different timestamps (TSM and Journalator use the time the mail arrived, Goblinomics the time you opened it). The comparison allows for that.
Auction house sales, purchases and deposits, vendor sales and purchases, repairs, postage and mail gold, trades, crafting order commissions, and from Journalator also quest rewards, looted gold, flights and trainer costs. Gold mailed between your own characters becomes a Transfer, like it would in the Ledger itself. Expired and cancelled auctions go into the auction house log.
Auction house purchases from the last 14 days also become purchase lots for the Workshop, so crafts right after the import already use what you paid.
Every import is listed at the bottom of the section with its date and counts. Undo import removes exactly the bookings and auction log entries that import added, nothing else. If an import went wrong, undo it and you're back where you were.
