Uploading games
Games can be sent to the library from the browser of any device, without a file manager on the server or a share on the network. Only administrators can upload, and never in the demo.
- Library › Upload games opens the file picker; several files can be chosen at once.
- Or drop the files on the Library page: a veil tells where to drop them.
NSP, NSZ, XCI and XCZ files are taken; any other file is refused at once. The files go one after the other to the main library folder (the first folder of Settings › Library), and a panel in the corner shows each one with its progress and its speed.
Once a file is whole it takes its name in the folder and the library is scanned: the game appears with its covers, and the automations (organize, compress) treat it like any other new file. The upload is recorded in the activity log of Users.
- The connection is cut. The files go in pieces of 16 MB: a piece that fails is sent again, from where the server is, several times before giving up.
- The page was closed. Choose the same file again (same name and size): it goes on where it stopped. A file left halfway is kept for a day, as a hidden file that scans leave alone, then removed.
- "A file with this name is already in the library folder". Nothing is overwritten: rename the file, or delete the other one first.
- "Not enough free space". The free space is checked before the first byte, for the whole file.
While files are uploaded, the page does not reload by itself at the end of a scan, and leaving it asks first.
- Big files go best over a cable or a good Wi-Fi: the speed is that of the network between the device and the server.
- A game without its ticket uploads fine, but cannot be compressed without its title key (see Troubleshooting).
