Troubleshooting

Most Avid Angler problems can be resolved by checking the active input mode, visible control state, module settings, or whether World of Warcraft is currently blocking protected actions.

The Setup Wizard Did Not Open

The setup wizard opens automatically only when setup has not already been completed or skipped.

To run it again, open Avid Angler and select Settings → Setup Wizard.

/aa Does Not Open Anything

Check these first:

  • Make sure Avid Angler is enabled on the character selection AddOns screen.
  • Make sure the addon folder is named AvidAngler.
  • Restart World of Warcraft after a manual installation or update.
  • Try /reload if the addon was enabled during the current session.

The Fishing Control Says Paused

The visible control can pause during combat lockdown or other protected game states. Leave combat or the protected state and try again.

The Fishing Control Says Unavailable

The control can be unavailable if the character is dead or a required spell or action is still loading. Resurrect or give the client a moment to finish loading the required data.

The Control Is Hidden

Use Show control in Settings, or right-click the minimap button or Addon Compartment entry to show the visible fishing control again.

The Control Is Sleeping

Right-click the visible control to wake it. You can also open Avid Angler with /aa and use Settings to show or adjust the visible control.

one-key fishing Is Not Working

Check that:

  • one-key fishing is enabled.
  • The key field contains a valid WoW key binding string, such as CTRL-F, ALT-F, SHIFT-F, F, BUTTON4, or CTRL-BUTTON5.
  • You are not in combat.
  • The visible fishing control is not sleeping or hidden.
  • The Casting module is enabled.

If you changed the key, save the new binding before testing it.

double right-click Is Not Working

Check that:

  • double right-click is enabled.
  • You are double right-clicking empty 3D world space, not a UI element.
  • You are not holding right-click for camera movement.
  • You are not in combat or another protected state.

Auto Loot Did Not Change

If Auto Loot is already enabled in WoW settings, Avid Angler does not need to change it. When Avid Angler manages Auto Loot, it restores your previous WoW setting afterward.

Gear Did Not Swap

Check that:

  • The AvidAngler equipment set exists.
  • Equip Gear is enabled.
  • You have a previous named equipment set to restore to if you expect a return swap.
  • You are not in combat or dead.

Use View Gear in Settings to confirm that the saved fishing set exists and contains the equipment you expect.

Lures, Bobbers, or Toys Are Missing

Use Scan in Settings to refresh the available fishing actions. Avid Angler scans bags, toys, and usable fishing items. Some toy choices may be unavailable because of water-only, cooldown, or character-use restrictions.

Catch History Is Empty

Catch history fills from fishing loot recorded by Avid Angler. If you have not caught anything since installing the addon, or the SavedVariables were cleared, the history will be empty until new catches are recorded.

Midnight Score Looks Incomplete

Midnight scoring depends on Blizzard fishing journal data together with Avid Angler's recorded catches. If game data is still loading or currently unavailable, some score information may be omitted until it becomes available.

Still Having Trouble?

Try /reload and reproduce the problem once more. If it continues, report it through the Earthenmist - Addon Hub Discord or the addon project's issue tracker and include what you were doing, what you expected to happen, and any error message shown by the game.
