Getting Started

The Main Window

The main window has three areas:

  • Available Mods (left): installed but not active (Mods.inactive folder)
  • Active Mods (right): active and loaded in-game (Mods folder)
  • Detail Panel (far right): info about the selected mod

Arrow buttons between the panels activate/deactivate mods.

Toolbar

Button Action
Profile selector Switch between saved mod profiles
Save Save the current mod state as a profile
Manage Profiles Open the profile management dialog
Start Game Launch Derail Valley via Steam
Refresh Re-scan mod folders
Unload All Deactivate all active mods
Check Updates Query GitHub and Nexus for updates
Update All Download and install all available updates
Settings Open the settings dialog

Status Bar

  • Game indicator: green dot when Derail Valley is running (mod operations are locked)
  • Status message: current operation or last action result
  • Version: app version, clickable update link when a new release is available

Installing Your First Mod

  1. Download a mod ZIP file for Derail Valley
  2. Drag the ZIP onto the window, or click Install (right arrow) and browse to the file
  3. The mod appears in the Available Mods panel
  4. Select it and click Activate (right arrow), or drag it to the Active panel
  5. If the mod has dependencies, they're activated automatically
  6. Launch Derail Valley - the mod is loaded by Unity Mod Manager

Mod States

Color State Meaning
Green Active In the Mods folder
Gray Inactive In the Mods.inactive folder
Amber Update Available Newer version on GitHub or Nexus
Orange Missing Dependency A required mod is not installed
Gray (muted) No Metadata No Info.json found

Drag and Drop

  • Drop a ZIP on the Active panel: installs and activates
  • Drop a ZIP on the Available panel: installs without activating
  • Drop a .json profile file: imports the profile
