Workshop components
Start with the Workbench and Furnace, then smelt iron and copper. At the Workbench, combine one Workbench, four Iron Ingots and two Copper Ingots to make a Machinist’s Bench. Place it and press E or right-click to open its 4×4 grid.
| At the Machinist’s Bench | Result |
|---|---|
| Iron Ingot ×1 in any cell | Iron Cog ×1 |
| Iron Plate ×1 in any cell | Rivets ×4 |
To make Iron Plates first, put three Iron Ingots in a horizontal row at the same bench. That produces three Iron Plates. These components need the Machinist’s Bench; the smaller Workbench cannot make them.
Find the component in the inventory’s item browser and open its recipe. Fill grid moves the required ingredients from your inventory; click the crafting result to make it. Shift-click the result to send crafted output directly to your inventory.

Actual Windows-player recipe captures, October 2, 2026, from the focused crafting verification fixture. Ingredients and the placed bench are supplied for the check; the guide, grid filling and result clicks use the game’s real crafting interface.
Cogs are used by the Boiler Engine, Alternator, Crusher, Pump and other mechanisms. Rivets and Plates make the Machine Casing, which supplies the structural component for many machines. Copper Wire carries the electrical side of this progression.
Smelt one Sand into one Glass in a Furnace or Electric Furnace. Glass is an ingredient for lamps, indicators and Reinforced Tank Glass; ordinary Glass is not a standalone placeable window.
Existing saves keep every component and machine already owned. The revised recipes apply to new crafting; previously made Cogs and Rivets are not converted or refunded.
