Archetype

An archetype is the defining label for your character. Are you a Knight (the default for most characters), a Lady (from the Nobles Handbook) or perhaps something else.

The data is spread across several tabs.

Attributes

  • For each stat enter the dice formula if rolling the stat via the random method
  • Next enter the minimum starting value if selecting your stats via the constructed method, rather than rolling them
  • Then enter the maximum starting value if selecting your stats
  • And then enter the maximum for the stat after character creation. Do not include any adjustment for cultural bonuses, they will be applied by the culture.
  • Now drag and drop an Ideal for the archetype - this will determine the skills, traits etc that you need to meet to become a Knight, Lady etc.
  • Now add the classes that are part of this Archetype. They classes are ordered by Age to show the progression through the Archetype.

Skills

  • You can drag and drop skills on to the sheet. Each time you drop a skill you will get a dialog box asking for the starting skill score. This lets you define different base skill scores for different archetypes. You can either:
    • Enter a value (e.g. 0 or 5)
    • Enter a formula such as DEX/2 or APP-5. The system will recognise dex, str, con, **siz **and **app **for stats (it is not case sensitive but won't recognise other languages). It will also recognise the math symbols + - / *
    • Or just hit confirm with no entry (it will default to 0)
    • The system is looking for the formula to be in the format of stat * multiplier + modifier (e.g. DEX/2+1 or APP-5) but will deal with other formats.
  • Click the traschcan icon to delete a skill

When adding an Archetype to a character (either via Drag/Drop or through Character Creation) any skills missing from the character sheet will be added. Any skills on the character sheet that are not on the Archetype will have their base starting score set to zero.

Traits

There are two things to enter here: **Start with one trait at 16 **- tick this box if the archetype starts the character with one trait at 16 if using the constructed method. It has no impact if using the random method Traits - drag and drop any traits that having starting values that are determined by the Archetype (e.g. Valorous for a Knight). You will get a dialog box asking for starting values if using the constructed and random methods.
