Attribute Tab

Family Characteristic - enter the name of the characteristic that relates to this skill (e.g. Perceptive for the Awareness skill).

Specialised - if the skill is a specialised skill tick this box, a second "name" field will appear so you can enter a specialisation - Religion or Literacy are examples of specialised skills

Starting Skill - if ticked this skill will be added to newly created characters

Magical Talent - this is more for NPCs rather than PCs. Ticking this box will put the skill in a separate category on the NPC sheet. In all other respects this acts like a skill for dice rolls etc.

Skill Group - you can select various skill groups that the skill relates to. If Combat is selected then see Combat Skill (below). You can select multiple groups.

Weapon Type - If the Combat Skill is toggled on there is an additional field of Weapon Type - and there is a drop down menu for the GM to select. This is important as it will be used to calculate the Value/Score for a weapon on the character sheet. So for a dagger skill make sure you select the Dagger option, as this score will be applied to all weapons which also have the Dagger weapon Type. Some combat skills (eg Battle) aren't related to a weapon and in these cases simply select "None" as the weapon type. See Weapons for more info.

Beginning Value - this determines the base value for the skill. Some skills use stats for their base score (e.g. for DEX/2 select DEX and enter 0.5 as the multiplier). For a fixed base score enter a Modifier. You can put both in should you choose to.

Once a skill has been added to a character sheet the following additional fields are available

Beginning Value - the base value for the skill.

Culture - any bonus due to the character's culture

Family Characteristic - bonus to the family characteristic

Character Creation - points gained during the Character Creation Phase

Winter - points gained during the Winter Phase

Effects - calculated total of the Active Effects impacting the skill if you used "system.effects" at the end of the key

Total - the calculated total of the above

XP Checkbox - toggle this to show whether an XP check is due or not during the Winter Phase
