Animal Management

The normal animal workflow starts in the Animal Dashboard.

Basic Herd Setup

  1. Open Animal Dashboard.
  2. Tap Herd Management.
  3. Add a herd or breed group such as cattle, goats, or poultry.
  4. Open that group and add individual animals.
  5. Use the animal screens to keep records current over time.

What You Can Track

FarmPath supports several animal-related workflows:

  • Herd and breed grouping
  • Individual animal records
  • Animal management details
  • Animal-ledger history
  • Group-ledger history
  • Milking logs
  • Animal events and reminders

Milking Workflow

If you keep dairy animals, a common workflow is:

  1. Open the herd or animal list
  2. Open the Milking Log
  3. Enter the session details
  4. Save the record

These logs can support dashboard visibility and animal-level history.

Sales and expenses can also be assigned to an animal or herd. This helps with:

  • Per-animal reporting
  • Herd-level profitability review
  • Cleaner animal ledger history

Good Practices

To keep animal records useful over time:

  • Create herd groups first
  • Use consistent animal names or tags
  • Log events soon after they happen
  • Assign sales and expenses to the correct animal or herd when relevant
  • Review animal and group ledgers regularly
