Data Governance Policy
Last Updated: March 28, 2026
This Data Governance Policy explains how data within the FarmPath platform ("App") is created, stored, synchronized, modified, and deleted.
This document supplements the:
- Terms of Service
- Privacy Policy
- EULA
Users retain ownership of all data entered into FarmPath.
This includes:
- Farm records
- Financial records
- Animal records
- Equipment records
- Mapping data
- Maintenance records
- Operational notes
FarmPath does not claim ownership of user data.
FarmPath operates under a user-controlled data model.
This means:
- Users control what data is entered
- Users control what data is deleted
- Users control what data is shared
- Users control whether sync is enabled
FarmPath does not actively manage user farm records.
FarmPath primarily stores data:
Locally on user devices
Optionally in Apple CloudKit when enabled.
We do not operate centralized farm data databases.
This architecture is designed to:
- Reduce privacy risk
- Increase user control
- Limit external exposure
FarmPath data follows this lifecycle:
Creation -> Storage -> Modification -> Sync -> Backup -> Deletion
Users control each stage.
FarmPath does not automatically modify user data except during synchronization processes.
FarmPath attempts to preserve data integrity during:
- Sync operations
- Updates
- Storage operations
However:
Data integrity cannot be guaranteed due to:
- Device failures
- Operating system issues
- Sync conflicts
- User actions
- Third-party infrastructure
Users must maintain backups of critical records.
When multiple devices modify the same data:
Conflicts may occur.
Possible outcomes include:
- Overwrite of prior data
- Duplicate records
- Timing conflicts
- Deletion conflicts
FarmPath does not guarantee preservation of all versions of data during sync conflicts.
Users assume responsibility for:
- Resolving conflicts
- Maintaining backups
- Verifying records after sync
If FarmPath allows shared farm access:
Users accept risks including:
- Data edits by collaborators
- Data deletion by collaborators
- Incorrect entries
- Permission misuse
FarmPath does not manage user team permissions beyond provided controls.
Users are responsible for managing access.
FarmPath does not guarantee:
- Recovery of deleted data
- Historical record restoration
- Backup restoration
- Rollback capability
Once data is deleted:
Recovery may not be possible.
Users should export data before major deletions.
Users are responsible for:
- Exporting data
- Maintaining backups
- Protecting exported files
FarmPath may provide export tools but does not guarantee backup integrity.
FarmPath does not verify:
- Financial accuracy
- Operational accuracy
- Animal records
- Maintenance records
- Mapping accuracy
Users must independently verify all records.
FarmPath is not responsible for decisions based on stored data.
Financial records are stored as entered by users.
FarmPath:
- Does not validate accounting correctness
- Does not provide tax calculations
- Does not provide financial advice
Users remain responsible for financial reporting.
FarmPath is not intended to be relied upon as the sole source of operational decision making.
Users should independently verify:
- Financial decisions
- Equipment decisions
- Livestock decisions
- Operational planning
FarmPath relies on:
- Device operating system security
- Apple security infrastructure
- User device protections
Users are responsible for:
- Device passcodes
- Apple account protection
- Physical device control
We are not responsible for compromised user devices.
Users may export data using available tools.
Export formats may include:
- CSV
- Spreadsheet formats
- App data formats
Exported data becomes user responsibility.
FarmPath processes data only for:
- App functionality
- Sync operations
- Storage operations
- Performance improvements
FarmPath does not use farm data for:
- Advertising
- Behavior tracking
- Data resale
If FarmPath introduces AI features:
User data will not be used for AI training without disclosure.
Future data processing changes will be disclosed in updated policies.
If we become aware of a security issue we may:
- Investigate
- Mitigate risks
- Notify users if legally required
FarmPath’s architecture minimizes centralized data risk.
FarmPath does not guarantee:
- Continuous availability
- Permanent storage
- Continuous sync
Availability may be affected by:
- Internet connectivity
- Device status
- Third party infrastructure
FarmPath is not a business continuity system.
Users must maintain independent operational records.
FarmPath should not be the sole repository of critical business information.
We may retain minimal technical data if required for:
- Legal compliance
- Security investigations
- Fraud prevention
FarmPath does not maintain user farm data for regulatory storage.
This Data Governance Policy may be updated.
Changes will be reflected by the Last Updated date.
Questions regarding data governance:
Crawford Family Farm
FarmPath data governance is based on:
- User ownership of data
- User control of data
- Minimal data collection
- Local-first storage
- Optional cloud sync
- User responsibility for backups
We believe your farm data belongs to you.
