TypeWhisper for Linux is © 2026 Excel on the Web, and it incorporates code from the upstream TypeWhisper project (which provides the macOS and Windows versions), © 2026 TypeWhisper. Both products are licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later.

The Linux edition began as, and remains, a derivative work that incorporates upstream code; it has diverged into an independently maintained branch with its own Linux-specific functionality while continuing to incorporate upstream changes where they apply. Copyright in the Linux product — the port, the Linux-specific additions, and the work as assembled — is held by Excel on the Web, while copyright in the underlying upstream code remains with TypeWhisper.
