Web Page

Every remote runs a small web server. Open http://<remote-ip>:8080 from any browser on the same network (computer, phone or tablet). It is where you connect the remote to your devices, manage its files and open the builder.

Don't know the IP? See Installation › step 5. Give the remote a fixed IP in your router so the address never changes.

The page follows your browser's language (English, French, Italian, Spanish).

Home

The top shows this remote's name, with Rename next to it. The name is what Home Assistant and its events use to tell your remotes apart (see Several remotes).

Below, one tile per kind of device, each with a count (e.g. 3 devices, 1 hub):

Tile What you set up there
Home Assistant The connection (URL, token, optional webhook), then a catalogue of named HA entities
Harmony Your Harmony hub(s), and an alias for any Harmony command
IR Devices Devices controlled with the remote's own IR blaster
IR Extenders Network IR blasters, for devices the remote can't see
Apple TV Apple TVs paired directly over the network

At the bottom: Download backup · Restore backup · IR database · Icons · Find my remote · Dashboard builder.

Home Assistant

  1. Connection settings:

    • URL: e.g. http://192.168.1.10:8123 (or your https address);
    • Long-lived access token: create it in Home Assistant › your profile › Security;
    • Webhook id (optional): lets the remote push its battery, button events and state to Home Assistant instantly instead of being polled. Use the id given by the Home Assistant integration.
  2. + Add device: pick a type (light, switch, cover, climate, media player, camera, fan, vacuum, weather, select), choose the entity, give it a name.

These named devices are what the builder offers in each card's entity picker, so you choose "Living room TV" instead of typing media_player.lg_oled_65.

Saving the connection makes the remote reconnect. Paired Apple TVs are added to this catalogue automatically as media players.

Harmony

  • + Add hub: name, IP address, and Auto-detect ID to fill the hub id from the IP.
  • Click a hub to browse its devices and commands. You can give any command an alias, e.g. when a device only has Select and you want it called OK. The alias is shown everywhere you pick a command (tiles, hotkeys, Activities). What's sent to the hub doesn't change.

See Harmony Hub.

IR Devices

One entry per physical device (TV, amp, projector…), with its IR commands. Two ways to fill it:

  • Paste Pronto codes by hand: one command at a time (power, hdmi1, volume_up…).
  • Reference the IR database: pick category › brand › model from the files on the remote (see IR database below).

Where should commands be sent from? Either the remote's own IR blaster, or an IR extender. Only IR-database devices can use an extender for now.

See IR devices & IR database.

IR Extenders

Network IR blasters (astrion-ir-extender) for a closed cabinet or another room. Enter a name, the IP or hostname, and the MAC address (shown on the extender's own web page). The MAC keeps its identity stable, so you can rename it or change its IP without breaking the devices that use it.

Apple TV

+ Add Apple TV searches your network:

  1. Pick the Apple TV and enter the 4-digit code shown on the TV.
  2. Optionally pair a second time for Now Playing info (title, artwork, position). The TV shows a second code.

Each Apple TV becomes a media_player.appletv_… entity that cards, hotkeys and Activities can use, without Home Assistant. See Apple TV (direct).

Backup and restore

  • Download backup saves the remote's dashboard.json: pages, cards, hotkeys, Activities, theme and the device catalogue.
  • Restore backup replaces everything with a backup file.

💡 Download a backup before any big change. Since 1.3.0 the remote also keeps every saved version: Version history opens the list in the builder.

The Home Assistant token and hub settings are not in the backup. They stay on the remote.

IR database

Category / brand / model files for the IR device picker. Choose your device in the online ir-database picker, then upload the file here. The list shows which files are on the remote. Deleting one warns you if an IR device still uses it.

Icons

Upload PNG (or JPEG/WebP) icons for your tiles and buttons. In the builder, click Choose… next to an icon field to use them. Deleting an icon warns you if dashboard.json still uses it.

Find my remote

Rings the remote (ringtone, alarm or notification sound) at the volume and for the duration you choose, so you can find it by ear. Stop ends it early. It can also be triggered from Home Assistant, see Find my remote.

Updates

The builder's header shows the installed version and offers new releases. Tick Also the beta to be offered beta builds too. See Updates & beta.

Logs

http://<remote-ip>:8080/logs downloads the app's recent log as a .txt file. Attach it to a bug report, no adb needed.
