Open an AV popup with one key

Since 1.2.8. A long press on Menu floats your "AV" page over whatever you're doing. Press it again to close.

  1. ⚙ on the AV page › Popup size & position: e.g. 90 % × 60 %, bottom.
  2. 1. Hotkeys: scope Global, Long press, key Menu (MAIN), action Go to page › AV, tick Open as a popup › Add hotkey.
  3. Save to device.
"longHotkeys": [
  { "key": "MAIN", "page": "AV", "pageMode": "popup" }
],
"pages": [
  { "name": "AV", "popupWidth": 0.9, "popupHeight": 0.6, "popupPosition": "bottom", "cards": [ … ] }

A TV input picker that closes itself

A small popup with your HDMI inputs: tap one, the TV switches and the popup closes.

  1. Create a page Inputs with a Button grid. One button per input, using IR device + command (or Harmony, or a service), with Close the open popup after this button's action ticked.
  2. On your TV page, add a tile or a hotkey that opens Inputs as a popup (Page to open + …as a popup).
{ "type": "button_grid", "options": { "columns": 2, "buttons": [
  { "name": "HDMI 1", "irDevice": "tv_lg", "irCommand": "hdmi1", "closePopup": true },
  { "name": "HDMI 2", "irDevice": "tv_lg", "irCommand": "hdmi2", "closePopup": true }
] } }

A Harmony-style "All off" button

Turns off whatever Activity is running, in one room or everywhere.

  • A tile: on a scene_grid tile, fill Turn off a room's Activity with the room name, or * for every room.
  • A key: hotkey, Long press on Power, action Turn off a room's Activity › *.
{ "name": "All off", "icon": "/sdcard/astrion/icons/power.png", "stopActivity": "*" }
"longHotkeys": [ { "key": "POWER", "stopActivity": "*" } ]

Composed Activities switch their devices off according to each device's settings; Harmony activities power their own hub off. See Activities.

A complete Apple TV page

  1. Pair the Apple TV on the web page, both codes (control + Now Playing). See Apple TV.
  2. Activity Watch Apple TV (builder › 2. Activities): devices TV + amplifier + Apple TV, volume on the amplifier. In the review step, set Now playing to the Apple TV.
  3. Page "Apple TV":
    • an Apple TV remote card, Full layout. Add buttons (e.g. Menu, Home, Siri, Guide) and your favourite apps (Netflix, YouTube…);
    • ⚙ › Hide unless this Activity is running › Watch Apple TV.
  4. Home page: a scene_grid tile with Composed Activity › Watch Apple TV, Page to open › Apple TV.
  5. Hotkeys on the Apple TV page (This page only): Play → Apple TV command Play / Pause; Rewind / Fast-forward → Back / Forward 10 s.

Result: one tap on the home page turns everything on, opens the Apple TV page, the volume keys drive the amplifier, and the dock clock shows what's playing.

Show your amplifier's audio/video info

AVR sensors often return long text (3840x2160 HDR10 23.98Hz Dolby Vision 12-bit 4:2:2). The Monitor card's options handle it:

  1. Add a Monitor card (common cards), title AVR.
  2. Layout › Vertical: the value gets its own full-width line.
  3. Tick Scroll long values on one line if you'd rather keep one line that scrolls.
  4. Add your sensors with + Add a sensor.
{ "type": "monitor", "options": {
  "title": "AVR", "layout": "vertical", "marquee": true,
  "entities": [
    { "entity_id": "sensor.avr_video", "name": "Video" },
    { "entity_id": "sensor.avr_audio", "name": "Audio" }
  ]
} }

Doorbell: pop up the camera

When someone rings, the camera page pops up on the remote, then goes away by itself.

  1. A page Door with a Camera card.
  2. ⚙ on Door:
    • Auto-open when this entity's state is: binary_sensor.doorbell, state on;
    • …and auto-close when its state is: off;
    • How it opens › Popup, and set its size.
{ "name": "Door", "openWhenEntity": "binary_sensor.doorbell", "openWhenState": "on",
  "closeWhenState": "off", "openMode": "popup", "cards": [ … ] }

The remote remembers where you were and goes back there when the popup closes.

One remote per room

  1. Name each remote after its room (Settings › About, or Rename on its web page).
  2. Add each one to the Home Assistant integration and turn on push.
  3. In each remote's builder › 4. Dock screen › Room of this remote: its room.
  4. Give each remote its own Activities for its own room.
  5. One automation for every remote's buttons, using remote_name:
trigger:
  - platform: event
    event_type: astrion_button
    event_data: { event: lights_off }
action:
  - service: light.turn_off
    target:
      area_id: "{{ trigger.event.data.remote_name | lower | replace(' ', '_') }}"

See Several remotes.
