Hotkeys

dckiller51 edited this page Oct 16, 2026 · 2 revisions

Every physical button of the HA100 can do what you want, with a short and a long press, on every page or only on one page.

Set them up in the builder, section 1. Hotkeys. They are saved in dashboard.json as hotkeys / longHotkeys, either global or inside a page.

The keys

Builder name Key id Builder name Key id
Back BACK Mute MUTE
Home HOME Microphone VOICE
Power POWER Menu MAIN
Volume + / − VOLUME_UP / VOLUME_DOWN Rewind REWIND
Previous / Next page PAGE_UP / PAGE_DOWN Play / Pause PLAY
Up / Down / Left / Right UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT Stop STOP
OK CENTER Fast-forward FASTFORWARD
Red / Green / Blue / Yellow RED_BUTTON GREEN_BUTTON BLUE_BUTTON YELLOW_BUTTON

Hover a key on the remote picture in the builder's preview to see its name.

Adding a hotkey

  1. Scope: Global (every page) or This page only. A page binding overrides the global one while that page is on screen, so the same key can do different things on the TV page and the lights page.
  2. Press type: Single press, or Long press (~500 ms hold).
  3. Physical key.
  4. Action (see below), then Add hotkey, then Save to device.

The preview lists the hotkeys active on the page you're looking at (⚡).

Actions

Action What it does
Go to page Jumps to a page. Tick Open as a popup to float the page over the current one instead; press the key again to close it. (Since 1.2.8)
Open overlay Opens Settings or Active Activities. Give Settings a key: it's the only way to open it on the remote.
Return to current Activity Jumps to the page of whatever Activity is running in a room.
Turn off a room's Activity The Harmony-style "Off": stops the room's Activity. * stops every room.
Home Assistant event Fires astrion_button in Home Assistant with the event name, the key, short/long, the page and which remote sent it. Your automations do the rest. Needs an administrator token.
Home Assistant service call Any service, e.g. light.toggle, script.turn_on, with an optional entity and extra data (JSON).
Home Assistant remote command remote.send_command to a remote.* entity (Android TV, Broadlink…), with command suggestions.
Apple TV command Sent directly to an Apple TV paired with the remote: menu, home, play/pause, ±10 s, Siri, volume… No Home Assistant needed.
Harmony IR command A command of a Harmony device, sent straight to the hub.
Harmony activity Starts a Harmony activity (-1 = power off).

💡 Bind VOLUME_UP / VOLUME_DOWN / MUTE to a media player's volume service: the remote then shows a small volume popup with the current level.

Examples

Long press on Menu opens Settings, on every page (since 1.2.9 the remote adds this one by itself when no hotkey opens Settings):

"longHotkeys": [
  { "key": "MAIN", "openOverlay": "settings" }
]

Long press on Menu opens the "AV" page as a popup (since 1.2.8):

{ "key": "MAIN", "page": "AV", "pageMode": "popup" }

Red button: an event Home Assistant can react to, per remote:

{ "key": "RED_BUTTON", "event": "movie_scene" }
trigger:
  - platform: event
    event_type: astrion_button
    event_data: { event: movie_scene, remote_name: Living room }

Power, long press: everything off, like Harmony:

{ "key": "POWER", "stopActivity": "*" }

Good to know

  • BACK also returns from a child page to its parent, unless that page binds BACK itself.
  • Activities set their own volume keys: an Activity with a volume device binds VOLUME_UP / DOWN / MUTE on the page where you place it. See Activities.
  • A tracked hotkey ("track": true + "room" in the JSON) counts as an Activity. It shows in Active Activities and replaces whatever ran in that room.
  • The remote's own Settings › Sound & touch › Tap feedback turns the click sound on or off.
