Getting started

How do I open the Settings? Hold the Menu key. (Since 1.2.9) the remote does it by itself when no hotkey of yours opens Settings. You can pick another key in builder › 1. Hotkeys › action Open overlay › Settings. Swiping down from the top opens Active Activities instead. See Settings.

What's the remote's address? Remote: on a new remote (starter page) or when Home Assistant can't be reached, the banner at the top shows it (since 1.2.9); otherwise Settings › Connections (IP address) or Settings › Web configuration. Otherwise look in your router's device list. Then open http://<ip>:8080. Give the remote a fixed IP in your router.

Do I need Home Assistant? No. Harmony, the built-in IR blaster, IR extenders and Apple TV all work without it. Home Assistant adds every other kind of device.

Can I go back to the original remote software? Yes: adb uninstall com.custom.astrion or the Windows uninstall.bat. See Installation.

Home Assistant

"Auth failed — check token" The token was revoked or mistyped. Create a new long-lived token and paste it on the web page. See Home Assistant.

Stuck on "Connecting…" Check the URL (http vs https, port 8123) and that the remote can reach it. Try the IP instead of a hostname.

My "Home Assistant event" hotkeys do nothing The token must belong to an administrator. With the integration, you can use astrion_event (via the webhook) instead.

Values are a second behind when the screen comes on That's the battery-saving quiet mode catching up. See Standby & battery.

Battery & screen

The battery drains fast at night Turn on the integration's push webhook, leave Keep Wi-Fi awake off, keep quiet mode on. See Standby & battery.

The screen turns on by itself That's wake on motion (picking it up wakes it), during the first minutes after it goes off. Shorten it or set it to Off in builder › 5. Standby & battery. It never wakes this way on the dock.

The screen never turns off Set a Screen timeout (Settings › Display, or builder › 5. Standby & battery). It needs the "Modify system settings" permission: allow it when asked.

What does the remote show on its charger? Your choice: battery, a night clock, or the dashboard. See Dock screen.

Dashboard & builder

I deleted a card / broke my dashboard Restore your last backup: web page › Restore backup. Download a backup before big changes.

The builder shows example data, not my entities Open the builder from the remote (http://<remote-ip>:8080/builder/), not a saved copy, and check that Home Assistant is connected.

A page doesn't appear when I swipe It's probably set to Hide unless this Activity is running (page settings ⚙). See Builder.

Activities & devices

The Activity outline stays on after turning it off (Harmony, single hub) Fixed in 1.2.8: update. See Harmony.

A device turns off when I switch Activities Uncheck Power off when another Activity takes the room for that device, or add it to both Activities: shared devices are left alone. See Activities.

Things got out of sync (TV off but Astrion thinks it's on) Active Activities (swipe down) › Help on the Activity › correct the devices › Fix.

IR commands don't work Point the remote at the device (line of sight), or use an IR extender. For hand-pasted codes, only learned Pronto codes (type 0000) work.

The Apple TV shows "not reachable" Make sure it's awake and on the same network. Re-pair if you reset it. See Apple TV.

How do I update? Two taps from Settings or the builder, no cable. See Updates & beta.

What is the beta? A separate app with the newest changes, installed next to the official one. See Updates & beta.
