Settings
The remote's own Settings panel: brightness, screen timeout, Wi-Fi, language, version… everything you adjust on the remote itself. The dashboard is set up in the builder.
Hold the Menu key (long press on MAIN). (Since 1.2.9) this works out of the box: as long as no hotkey of your dashboard opens Settings and Menu's long press isn't used for something else, the remote binds it by itself.
You can also choose another key: builder › 1. Hotkeys › Action Open overlay › Settings (see Hotkeys). Once a hotkey opens Settings, the automatic Menu long press is no longer added.
Swiping down from the top of the screen opens Active Activities, not Settings.
Close it with ✕, the Back key, or by tapping outside a group.
The panel shows a short summary next to each group. Tap one to open it.
- Brightness: the screen brightness slider.
-
Screen timeout: System, 15 s, 30 s, 1 min, 2 min or 5 min. Anything but System is saved in the remote's
dashboard.jsonand kept by the app, even if something else changes Android's setting. - Wake on motion: picking the remote up turns the screen on. How long after the screen goes off this works is set in builder › Standby & battery.
- Dock screen: what the remote shows on its charger (Charging, Clock or Dashboard), see Dock screen.
Brightness and screen timeout need Android's "Modify system settings" permission. The first time, the remote opens Android's page for it: allow Astrion Custom and come back. You can also grant it once over adb, see Installation.
- Home Assistant status, and Reconnect now.
- Wi-Fi network: opens Android's Wi-Fi settings.
- IP address of the remote.
- Keep Wi-Fi awake: off by default. Turn it on only if Home Assistant sometimes can't reach the remote while its screen is off. It costs battery, because Wi-Fi never goes into power save.
- Local config server: turns the remote's web page on or off. Turning it off also disables the builder, icon uploads and backups. Turn it back on here to reconfigure.
- Shows the address, e.g.
http://192.168.1.50:8080.
- Tap feedback: a short tick on taps and key presses.
- Test "Find my remote": rings it the way Home Assistant would. Touch the screen or press a key to stop.
System, English, Français, Italiano or Español. The app restarts to apply it.
- Name of this remote: used by Home Assistant and its events to tell your remotes apart (see Several remotes).
- Remote ID, Version, Channel (official or beta) and Update.
- Device, Battery, IP address, Package, Project link.
-
Logs: where to download them (
http://<remote-ip>:8080/logs). -
Reload dashboard: re-reads
dashboard.json. - Restart the app.
Opens Android's own settings.
When a new version is out, a line at the top of Settings says so (Update available: v1.x.y). Tap it to install. Beta users see Beta available. See Updates & beta.
