Reverse view

Settings → Car → Reverse view. Dashwheel's own reversing screen on QF head units.

Reverse view preview: distance and steering lines, radar around the car seen from above

The Try it preview (made-up data): distance lines, steering lines and the rear radar around the car.

  • Camera + radar, camera only or radar only. With Camera + radar the radar sits in its own panel on the driver's side, camera beside it.
  • Distance lines in colour and steering lines that bend with the wheel (from the CAN box's steering angle).
  • Radar from the rear parking sensors (closest distance, distance rings, glowing sensors), drawn around your car seen from above.
  • Ground memory: a 180° map of the ground behind the bumper, built from the camera as you reverse.
  • Adjust: calibrate the lines on the real picture (ground projection, lens bend). Try it previews it parked.

Camera picture

Choice What happens Needs
Car app Dashwheel's lines and radar over the unit's own camera screen Accessibility service
Dashwheel Dashwheel takes the camera over: own picture, no stock lines Root shell, camera permission

On the second screen: in reverse gear the second screen switches to the rear view by itself and back to its page after. Settings → Car → Reverse view → Second screen: Off, Camera, Radar, or Camera and radar. The camera there comes from Dashwheel's own picture and needs Simple display off; until then it shows the radar. Status: not car-tested yet.

If the takeover fails, the unit's camera is restarted and a chip says so. Which camera opens, and a learned reverse signal for cars whose CAN box doesn't report it, are set in Car signals.

In the car

Reverse view in a Citroën C4 Picasso: radar panel with the car from above on the left, camera picture with lines on the right

On the K706 in the C4 Picasso, Camera + radar layout (French UI). Left: the rear radar around your own car, with the ground behind the bumper and distance rings at 0.5, 1.5 and 3 m. Right: Dashwheel's own camera picture with distance and steering lines, and a note that the tailgate won't open fully here.

Status: car-tested on the K706 (AHD 1080p camera, RZC Peugeot CAN box, rear sensors): takeover works in the car. Ground map and calibration lens: emulator only.
