get_cave_table

Get all the data for a specific table in a specific CAVE datastack as a pandas dataframe. Some tables may have limits on the number of rows you can pull at once. You can find a list of all the tables associated with a particular datastack using the get_cave_stack_tables function. Filtering requests (e.g. asking for just the data related to a single segment ID) is planned for a future update, but has not yet been implemented.

Arguments:

  • datastack (string, mandatory)
    • the name of the CAVE datastack the table belongs to
  • table_name (string, mandatory)
    • the name of the table you want

Returns:

  • table_df (Pandas DataFrame object)
    • the data for the requested table

Example

INPUT:

import tracertools as tt

table_df = tt.get_cave_table(
    datastack = "brain_and_nerve_cord",
    table_name = "cell_info"
)

table_df.head()

The df.head() method is a baked-in way of accessing the first 5 rows of a Pandas DataFrame object in a clean display format for quick inspection.
