If a character or creature can cast spells they will show on the Spells tab. On the left panel of the tab are the spell lists known, their ranks and the Spell Mastery modifier for that spell list. You can add spell lists with no ranks on the Skills tab, which can be useful for planning ahead or for magic rituals.

Selecting any spell list shows the available spells on the right panel. This shows all spells up to your ranks in the spell list plus the next 10 levels of spells (which are greyed out).

Casting a Spell: The Spell Mastery roll (SM)

This step is optional, but if you want to modify the spell you are casting then you must succeed in a Spell Mastery roll. Click the button next to the spell list in the Mastery column. It shows the current modifier for the roll.

Spell Mastery

Clicking the button will open the Spell Mastery dialog, which is identical to the Maneuver Rolls dialog (as that is what it is).

Complete any fields that are appropriate and click ok. It will then roll and show the result in the chat sidebar.

Better luck next time Bob!

Casting a Spell: The Spell Casting Roll (SCR)

This step is mandatory. To cast a spell you must succeed in a Spell Casting Roll (SCR).

Important: If the spell requires a target, make sure you have the token(s) targeted as this transfers the result to the token(s) for them to make their resistance roll against.

SCR roll

Click the button in the SCR column for the spell. If there are two buttons, the SCR roll is the first button. This will open the SCR dialog.

SCR dialog

Complete any fields that are appropriate and click ok. It will then roll and show the result in the chat sidebar.

SCR result

If Ernien fails their resistance roll against a target of 54 they are going to feel that!

Casting a Spell: The Spell Attack roll

Some spells are attacks and in addition to a successful SCR roll must also make a normal attack roll, using the appropriate skill bonus (Directed Spells). These spells have two buttons in their SCR column. The first if the SCR roll and the second is the attack roll.

Spell attack

If the SCR was successful you can now click the second button for the spell, which shows the OB bonus for the attack. This opens the Attack dialog.

Spell attack dialog

Just like attacks described on the Arms tab, complete the attack fields that are appropriate and click Ok. This will roll the attack and any critical scored and send the result to the chat sidebar.

Spell attack result

If the attack hits and does damage it will have an "Apply Damage" button. Clicking this will apply the damage (hits and any critical results) to the target. This will then show on their Conditions and effects tab.

In this example you can see that Bob lost 38 hitpoints (17 from the attack and 21 from the critical) and has a -50 stun applied. It's just not Bob's day today.
