Lateral Reconfiguration

This abstraction describes a Driving Lane restructuring that results in traffic flowing laterally out of a Road Segment. This is always by means of a Mid Road Turn Lane which flows traffic out of the Road Segment toward either the inside or outside.

Attributes

Direction

Indicates the direction of all Mid Road Turn Lanes in the reconfiguration.

Type: Inside Outside :: [ inside | outside ]

CONSTRAINT: If the direction is inside (to the left in the USA, for example), the innermost Mid Road Turn in the reconfiguration must be the innermost (leftmost, USA) Driving Lane. If the direction is outside (Japan/UK driving side and not necessarily either of these countries, for example, the outermost Mid Road Turn in the reconfiguration must be the outermost Driving Lane. There can be no Driving Lanes which are not Mid Road Turn Lanes in between two Mid Road Turn Lanes within the same reconfiguration.
