Lateral Reconfiguration allows traffic to escape laterally via one or many Mid Road Turn Lane

Mid Road Turn Lane is lateral traffic escape in exactly one Lateral Reconfiguration

Multiple adjacent (not counting Non-Driving Lanes) Mid Road Turn Lanes may deliver traffic out of a Road Segment toward the inside or the outside. Two adjacent left-turn lanes, for example, might direct traffic across oncoming Driving Lanes (assuming a right handed traffic region).

Without at least one Mid Road Turn Lane there is, by definition, no Lateral Reconfiguration.

Also by definition, and with an eye toward constraining adjacency and same flow direction, a Mid Road Turn Lane must be part of a single Lateral Configuration.

Formalization

Mid Road Turn Lane.(LR ID, Road segment) -> Lateral Reconfiguration.(LR ID, Road segment)
