Scenes - a scene is a named macro over everything GhostDeck already controls, and every field is optional, so it only touches what you picked. "Gaming" sets Extreme, 240 Hz and the overlay on; "Work" drops to Silent, 60 Hz, overlay off, 80 % charge limit. Run one from a card on the Scenarios tab, the tray menu, its own global hotkey, the tray scroll wheel or
--scene "Name"on the command line. One click adds a starter set - Gaming, Work, Travel, plus a "Current setup" scene frozen from your machine as it is right now, so you can always get back. - The tray icon does more than one thing - scroll the wheel over it to switch profiles (or scenes, or backlight levels), middle-click for Fan Boost. Left, middle and wheel are all configurable in Settings → System, from toggling the overlay to opening any tab. Spinning fast is safe: the target is previewed on screen and applied once, when the wheel stops.

Keyboard-backlight level - off / low / mid / high on models where the register is documented (82 firmware families), as a tile, an assignable hotkey, a wheel mode,
--kbdand a scene field. It follows your Fn key, so both stay in sync. Laptops with per-key RGB keyboards keep using their own Fn key - here is why, with the measurements. -
Webcam switch - the same EC-level cut-off the Fn camera key uses: the camera leaves the USB bus entirely, below Windows privacy settings. Available as a tile, a hotkey,
--webcamand a scene field, plus an advanced hard camera block for when nothing should be able to switch it back on. A panic reset always restores the camera. - A more useful Scenarios tab - a refresh-rate switch that works on any laptop, a red panic-reset button, three columns on wide windows, and the ability to hide any tile (or the whole Scenes section) in Settings → General.

EC live view (
Ctrl+Shift+E) - a read-only window showing all 256 EC bytes refreshed live, with changed registers highlighted and named. Press an Fn key and see instantly which register reacts; built to make model support reports far quicker. - Model support: 16 tested - Vector A18 HX A9WHG promoted to Tested (#54, thanks @Skullkidsrevenge), Raider A18 HX A7VIG fan curve hardware-verified (#55, thanks @afk789), and the GE76 entry renamed to 12UE / 12UGS (#47, thanks @moragab1993).

A community-driven release: five of its headline items came straight from user reports filed in the last two days. Illustrated tour: What's new in GhostDeck 1.24.1.
- Fan Boost auto-off timer (#51, thanks @cesarcamps) - Settings → Power: switch Boost off automatically after 30 s up to 15 min (or your own value up to 2 h). However you turned it on - tray, hotkey, tile, CLI - the fans return to the profile or running curve when the time is up.
- Fan curves survive a reboot (#49, thanks @inokra) - an opt-in switch re-applies your active curve a few seconds after startup and wake, so the EC's factory reset no longer silently discards it.
- Temperatures on firmware without MSI's EC interface (#48, thanks @SavAlexander) - a remarkable investigation (the owner decoded his own BIOS) proved some machines, like the Delta 15 A5EFK, simply lack the interface GhostDeck drives. Instead of a dead app, such machines now get live CPU/GPU temperatures from MSI's WMI sensor blocks, clearly labelled "temperatures only". No driver, read-only.
- Deeper monitoring - Status → Charts now shows every disk with its name, usage bar and S.M.A.R.T. temperature (NVMe health-log fallback included, both disks available in the overlay), a battery health panel (wear %, cycles, design vs full capacity) and Windows' battery-time estimate in the tray, Status and the HUD.
- One-click diagnostic package - Settings → System zips a read-only EC dump, the MSI sensor blocks, settings and logs for bug reports; no personal data.
- Model support: 15 tested - Raider GE76 12UE (#45/#47, thanks @moragab1993) and Raider A18 HX A7VIG (#50, thanks @afk789) promoted to Tested; GP66 Leopard/GE66 Raider fan curve verified (#52/#53, thanks @krystian-pytlik); both A18 HX boards stop writing a super-battery register MSI Center leaves alone (#54, thanks @Skullkidsrevenge).

Settings grew into eleven sections on one long page - 1.24.0 rebuilds the whole tab around icon sub-tabs with a live Start dashboard, turns Updates into a real release browser, and puts a digital signature on every download. Illustrated tour: What's new in GhostDeck 1.24.0.
- Settings sub-tabs + Start dashboard - six groups behind an icon strip; the Start page shows one tile per group with your live values (charge limit, refresh rates, alert threshold, overlay metrics, hotkeys, autostart), quick master switches on the Gaming and Notifications tiles, and a status header with a "new version available" chip. GhostDeck reopens Settings exactly where you left it, across restarts.
- Updates tab - the last 20 releases with download counts, full release notes readable inline (click to expand), a proper Details button, and automatic recovery after a lost connection.

GhostDeck.execarries an Authenticode signature ("WYGODA DAWID FENIX INSPIRE"): verified publisher in file Properties and UAC, tamper-proof file, and SmartScreen warnings fading over time. - Crosshair 16 HX AI D2XW promoted to Tested with a verified fan curve (#43/#44, thanks @Harsh3456D) - 13 tested models.
- Stability - a refused WMI read (Windows recycling its management service) no longer crashes the app; a hidden overlay no longer polls the EC; Settings always show the live language/theme state; the top bar highlights the active page even when it was opened from an icon-only button.

A small follow-up born from a great community report (#22, thanks @fwbvng). Some budget boards - first confirmed: the Thin GF63 12VE - have only one controllable fan curve: MSI Center shows a single slider, and the GPU-side tables in the EC are a dead field. Details: What's new in GhostDeck 1.23.1.
- On such models the Fan curve tab now shows one full-width plot (with a note) instead of a dead GPU graph, and GhostDeck never writes the unused GPU tables to the EC.
- The fan-curve wizard reports each fan separately: finding only the CPU test curve now says exactly that, with the located address, instead of a misleading "not located" - so single-fan boards verify cleanly.
- The GF63 12VE's curve is verified (test curve found at the shipped
0x72), and the preset bar got a bit of breathing room under the hint line.

The gaming update. GhostDeck now measures the FPS and frametime of any game - driver-free, injection-free, anti-cheat-safe - pairs them with the temperatures and fan data only it can see, and hands you a session report when you quit. Illustrated tour: What's new in GhostDeck 1.23.
A private ETW session listens to Windows' own Present events (the same source Intel PresentMon uses): no DLL injection, no kernel driver, nothing ever touches the game process. The gaming overlay gains FPS and frametime metrics, and the monitor runs only while the overlay or the new Gaming tab is open - zero idle cost.
A new sub-tab with live FPS / frametime / 1% low / stutter readouts and a 60-second frametime chart (stutter markers included), plus a browsable history of your last 5-50 game sessions with per-session JSON/CSV export.
Quit a game and a sleek borderless popup appears: duration, average FPS, 1% low, max temperatures, average fan RPM, the profile you played on, and a frametime sparkline. Drag it anywhere, save it as a PNG for Discord, export the data, or jump straight to the Gaming tab. Any interaction pins it; visibility time is configurable (20-60 s or until closed).
Some ECs wake from sleep or hibernation in Super Battery on their own. Settings → Power gains a toggle that re-asserts your chosen profile a few seconds after resume and at startup.
Thanks to picture-perfect owner reports, Thin GF63 12VE, Titan 18 HX Dragon Edition, Bravo 15 B7ED, Bravo 17 C7VE/D7VFK, GF63 Thin 11UC/11SC, Katana GF66 11UE/11UG and Pulse/Katana 17 B13V/GK are now ✅ Tested - that's 12 tested models. Fan-curve editor now clamps out-of-range EC values (no more broken UI on boards with exotic tables), the History Export button stopped growing a few pixels per refresh, and the FAQ explains how to verify a download against the release SHA-256 when a lone antivirus engine cries wolf.

A community-requested one (discussion #18, thanks @alibi90) — and the first GhostDeck feature that works on every laptop, because it doesn't touch the EC at all. Full tour: What's new in GhostDeck 1.22.
Settings → Power got an opt-in toggle plus two pickers: your preferred refresh rate on AC and on battery. Unplug and the panel drops to 60 Hz for battery life; plug back in and your 144/240 Hz comes right back — automatically, with an OSD toast and a change-history entry. The pickers list only the modes your panel actually reports, the switch changes frequency only (resolution stays), and external monitors are left alone. --status now reports refreshHz too.
The History Export button no longer clips at 125–140% display scale, and the Models tab now shows a live tested-model count (it proudly said "1 tested" long after there were five) — plus the whole tab is finally translated into all 8 languages.

The biggest feature release so far — and half of it grew straight out of community reports. There's an illustrated tour in What's new in GhostDeck 1.21 and a dedicated deep-dive into the new command line in Automating GhostDeck with the CLI.
Save your curves as named presets, switch them from the editor or straight from the tray menu, and assign a preset per profile — Balanced, Extreme and Super Battery each apply their own curve automatically on every switch (Silent deliberately stays stock: its power cap lives in the same EC byte a curve needs). Presets export/import as plain JSON, and a Share… button builds a ready-to-post GitHub Discussion (new Fan curves category) with your model and curve attached.
Status has a new History sub-tab: CPU/GPU temperature, fan duty and fan RPM over the last 5–60 minutes, with a crosshair readout (selected · now). Everything stays in memory — nothing is written or sent anywhere — unless you export the window to CSV/JSON for your own analysis.
A native command line: GhostDeck.exe --profile Silent, --fanboost on, --curve "<preset>", --panic, --status (JSON). Commands go to the running app (same safety gates as the UI) or run one-shot when it's closed. Task Scheduler, Stream Deck, AutoHotkey — full reference in docs/CLI.md.
MSI Cyborg 15 A12VF is now Tested (with real fan RPM) thanks to a picture-perfect report — and the Models tab gained a Thanks column crediting everyone whose verification carries a model: reports like these are what this project runs on.

Three quality-of-life features that have been on the wishlist for a while — plus a big internal cleanup. There's a longer illustrated tour in What's new in GhostDeck 1.20.
Settings → Backup exports every preference — profile colours, hotkeys, AC/battery rules, overlay layout, alert settings — to a single JSON file, and imports it back after a reinstall or on a second machine. Machine-specific state (the firmware-change guard, window position) deliberately stays local, so an imported file never confuses the safety checks on a different laptop.
A new opt-in temperature alert (Settings → Notifications): when the CPU or GPU stays above your chosen threshold (70–100 °C) for a chosen time (5–60 s), you get an OSD toast and a tray notification, and the event lands in the change history. A built-in cool-down keeps a long gaming session from spamming you. The 70/75 °C steps are there so you can see it fire without heating the laptop up first. And since a one-second toast is easy to miss, the OSD display time is now adjustable (1–15 s) — alerts always stay up at least 5 s.
The new panic reset hotkey (default Ctrl+Alt+F10) returns the machine to a safe stock state in one press: Fan Boost off, Balanced profile, fans back on the automatic curve — even releasing a custom fan curve. Experimenting with curves and something feels wrong? One key, stock behaviour.
The codebase was reorganized into Core/, UI/ and Forms/ folders and the largest source file was split into per-class files — no functional changes, but contributions and reviews get much easier. And a reminder, since it's asked about: GhostDeck already ships a firmware-change guard — after a BIOS/EC update it pauses automatic writes and asks you to re-verify the model before touching the EC again.

A polish pass on top of the visual refresh, plus a proper fix for the tab-loading stutter some people saw.
Opening a tab for the first time used to flash white for a moment and feel sluggish, and it came back every time you reopened the window. That was WinForms creating dozens of native controls on the spot. Now the window is pre-built hidden a couple of seconds after startup (every page and control created off-screen), and closing the window hides it instead of destroying it — so the first open, every tab switch, and every reopen are instant. Nothing is lost; the app still lives in the tray.
- Background grid — the faint grid behind every tab can be turned off.
- Tabs as icons — any main tab can be moved out of the tab row into an icon-only button on the right of the header (past the version number). Handy if you want, say, Models always one click away without it taking a slot in the tab strip.
Profile tiles now match the ghostdeck.dev cards: the active profile gets a soft inner glow and an outlined ACTIVE chip, the rest a quiet SELECT hint. Charge limit and AC/battery auto-switch moved into the same kind of boxes as Fan Boost and Gaming overlay, so every feature reads as one consistent block. The GhostDeck wordmark moved to the left of the tabs, and the tested/experimental badge now sits in the header next to the version.
The five gauges (and the metric boxes under them) now spread across the full width instead of hugging the left. The EC-byte legend, the live fan-curve table, the change log and the full-log window use the same colour language — muted labels, accent keys, per-fan colours — so they're easier to scan. Fan-curve charts gained a translucent gradient fill and node guide lines.
- A fifth application-icon style (cyan ghost on a light tile).
- Start over buttons in both report wizards — a capture run in the wrong MSI Center state can be repeated without restarting the app.
- Tabs are clickable across their whole height, not just the text line.

Follow-ups from community feedback in discussion #9:
- Pick your app icon (Settings → Application icon): the GhostDeck logo, the ghost on a dark rounded tile (the new default), the ghost on a light tile, or the classic pre-1.18 gauge. The tray icon still changes colour with the active profile in every style.

Autostart survives moving the exe. The scheduled task remembered the exe path from when you enabled autostart, so moving
GhostDeck.exeinto Program Files silently broke it. It now re-points itself on every start. - Overlay "Limit" shows OFF when the charge limit isn't managed by the app, instead of a stale percentage.
- Shortcut boxes follow the theme now (no more glaring white border in dark mode), clicking an overlay checkbox no longer lights up the Position dropdown, and "Send feedback" can be hidden from the tray menu.
- Status tables restyled with alternating row shading, and the in-app update download now shows a "Downloading… X%" label above a progress bar.

The big one. GhostDeck now looks like its website and can update itself.
When a newer version is found, the Updates tab shows an Install button: it downloads the new build with a progress bar and restarts on the new version (keeping the old exe as a .bak, cleaned up next start). No more downloading from GitHub and swapping files by hand. Falls back to the releases page if anything fails.
The dark theme now matches the site — near-black background, neon-cyan accents for gauges and indicators, blue fills for buttons and toggles (so white text stays readable), and dark mode is the default for new installs. New ghost logo everywhere (app / taskbar / window / tray, plus a wordmark in the header), new scenario icons (feather / scales / bolt / battery), new default profile colours, and segmented tick-ring gauges on Status. Badges became outlined chips; the change-history window got themed rows instead of the white-on-black grid.
Status and Fan curve did dozens of EC reads on the UI thread when you opened them — now they read in the background and paint instantly from the last snapshot. Settings is pre-built after startup and a language change repaints in one go.

The Language, On AC / On battery and overlay-position dropdowns kept a white field, button and list in dark mode (and flashed light on hover). They now use a fully theme-aware combo that paints itself, so they match the theme with no flicker.

Mostly driven by discussion #9:
- Turn individual shortcuts on/off (Settings → Keyboard shortcuts), plus a master "All shortcuts" switch — so accidental triggers can be disabled.
- Trim the tray menu (Settings → Tray menu): hide Status, Fan curve, Models, Report/verify or Change log. The tray order now mirrors the tabs, and Fan Boost / Gaming overlay / Lock overlay show a dim marker when off so their state is always visible.
- Gaming overlay "Bold text" option for the small metric labels, so they stay readable when the overlay is scaled down.
- Status → VRAM shows as a bar under RAM when the total is known, and the Settings layout was tidied (Updates card aligned to the bottom, profile colours on one row). Fixed a big empty gap that could open on the Settings tab after scrolling and resizing.

Two fixes to the fan-curve report flow:
- If a capture comes back empty, the wizard now tells you why. When your laptop isn't in the Advanced-curve state (e.g. it's in Silent, so the EC still holds the default curve), it says so and tells you to switch to Extreme, set the Advanced curve, Save, stay in Extreme, and capture again — instead of a vague "couldn't locate the test curve".
- Fixed the button/step label showing "Capture _scan" instead of "Capture & scan".

The report wizards no longer pre-fill the "paste your dump here" field. It used to be seeded with a placeholder, and reopening the report link restored it and wiped whatever you'd pasted — so dumps sometimes arrived empty. Now that field starts empty (the report is on your clipboard and saved to a .txt), so Ctrl+V just works. Every other field is still filled in for you.

The MSI Raider GE67 HX 12U fan curve is now verified too — its owner ran the wizard and it found the test curve at the shipped 0x72 (CPU) / 0x8A (GPU) addresses. So this model is now fully confirmed: profiles, and fan curve.

MSI Crosshair A16 HX (D7W/D8W) — its fan curve is now verified: the owner ran the wizard and it found the test curve at exactly the addresses GhostDeck ships (
0x72CPU /0x8AGPU). - MSI Raider GE67 HX 12U — promoted to Tested: the owner's per-scenario snapshot matched the shipped recipe 1:1 and they hardware-confirmed all three checks (Silent lowers power/noise, Extreme unlocks, switching stable).
That's 4 models tested on real hardware now, plus growing curve coverage — all driven by owners using the in-app Report / verify flow. Thank you! 🙌

The MSI Sword 16 HX B13V / B14V fan curve is now verified. Its owner ran the new fan-curve wizard — set a known test curve in MSI Center, and GhostDeck found those exact values at the addresses it ships (0x72 CPU / 0x8A GPU), confirming the curve tables on real hardware. The Models tab now shows the curve as editable/verified instead of unverified. This is the first model verified end-to-end through the wizard — exactly how it's designed to work.

The MSI Sword 16 HX B13V / B14V now shows CPU fan RPM instead of "—". The fan-tachometer register wasn't mapped for this model; the owner's earlier EC dump showed plausible, load-varying values at the same address the tested GE78HX board uses (0xC9/0xCB), so RPM is now read from there. (GPU RPM reads 0 while the discrete GPU's fan is idle.)

A big usability update focused on making the window less cramped and on letting owners verify their own hardware.
A new segmented sub-tab control splits busy pages into short, focused views instead of one long scroll:
- Status is now Charts · EC bytes · Change log. The change-log view shows the last 16 entries, and each view is sized to its own content (so scrolling stays minimal). Sharpness at high DPI is unchanged — the buffered, DPI-aware canvas still does the drawing.
- Report is now Profiles · Fan curve.
The Report → Fan curve wizard confirms the fan-curve registers for your exact model. It walks you through setting a deliberately distinctive test curve in MSI Center (Extreme → Advanced), reads the EC back read-only, and then scans the dump to find where those values landed — discovering the per-model curve addresses rather than just guessing them. If they match what the app ships, your model's curve can be marked verified; either way it opens a pre-filled GitHub report. Because the test values are unusual and differ between the two fans, we can tell the CPU table from the GPU table and rule out a coincidental match.
Report and Updates moved out of the main tab strip into icon buttons (⚑ and ⟳) next to the light/dark toggle, freeing space in the strip. (Icon nudging fixed so the glyphs line up — symbol glyphs centre their cell, not their ink.)
The Verify my model button now lives in a fixed white footer alongside the table legend, and the model table scrolls in its own region so nothing overlaps. The Fan curve tab gained a matching Report fan curve button, and the tray now groups both under Report / verify.
- All new UI text is translated into all 8 languages.
- Docs: new TECHNICAL sections (EN/PL) on sub-tabs and the fan-curve tracer method, plus rendering notes.

The MSI Sword 16 HX B13V / B14V (15P2EMS1) was promoted from experimental to Tested after an owner confirmed it on real hardware: under Cinebench 2026, HWiNFO64 showed each profile hitting its intended CPU package-power limit, and the fan curve behaving on par with MSI Center. Also bumped the CI workflow actions to clear a Node deprecation warning.

The MSI Crosshair A16 HX (D7W/D8W) (15PLIMS1) was promoted to Tested — an owner confirmed with HWiNFO64 that Silent measurably lowers CPU package power/clocks versus Balanced. The model-support request form also gained an optional hardware-verification section, so recognised-model owners can get verified in a single round.
