Menu Bar and Shortcuts
Outline when off, animated while connecting or switching, filled when connected, with a warning badge on failure. When connected, a green badge shows the exit country code (see Connecting). Speed in the menu bar (Settings → Connection) adds upload and download rates next to it.
Click the icon. From top to bottom:
- Connect control with the state, the active server, its group and delay.
- Exit location (with copy), the traffic graph of the last minute and live rates, and this session's data.
- Subscription: days left, used / total traffic, Support and Account links (when the provider sends them).
- Recent: the last three other servers you connected to.
- The active group: the active server and the fastest tested servers. Test re-tests the group.
- Routing mode, TUN and System Proxy switches.
- Local address with a copy button.
- Update available, when there is one.
- Open V2Mac · Settings… · Quit.
If the kill switch is blocking traffic while nothing is connected, a card says so with Allow Traffic.

V2Mac adds these actions to the Shortcuts app, Spotlight and Siri:
- Connect · Disconnect · Turn Connection On or Off
- Set TUN Mode · Set Routing Mode · Set System Proxy · Set Kill Switch
- Get Connection Status (returns a line of text)
- Connect to Server · Connect to Fastest Server · Test Server Delay (returns the servers that answered, fastest first) · Update Subscriptions · Get Exit IP Address
In the Shortcuts app you can give any of them a keyboard shortcut that works in every app, or run them from an automation (for example when you join a Wi-Fi network). Siri knows your server names: "Connect V2Mac to Frankfurt 2". Your servers also show up in Spotlight search; picking one opens V2Mac with that server selected.
Add the V2Mac control to Control Center or the menu bar (System Settings → Control Center). It is on while V2Mac is connected. Turning it on while V2Mac is not running starts V2Mac and connects without opening a window.
Add the V2Mac widget to the desktop or Notification Center (right-click the desktop → Edit Widgets). It shows whether V2Mac is connected, the server and where traffic comes out, and its power button connects or disconnects.
v2mac://connect starts V2Mac and connects. Providers can offer v2mac://install-config?url=… buttons that add their subscription.
Each kind has its own switch in Settings → Notifications.
| Kind | When | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Connection lost or failed | A connect fails, restarts give up, or the port is busy (with Use Port N) | On |
| Reconnected | Running again after a crash, sleep or network change | Off |
| TUN mode stopped | TUN could not start or went down | On |
| Chosen network disconnected | The outgoing network picked in Settings → Connection went away; V2Mac went back to Automatic | On |
| Subscription expiring | 3 days and 1 day before, and on expiry | On |
| Traffic running out | 80%, 95% and 100% of the quota | On |
| Automatic update failed | A scheduled subscription update fails | Off |
| Servers added or removed | A scheduled update changed the list | Off |
| V2Mac update available | A new release is found | On |
| Delay test finished | A test ends while V2Mac is in the background | Off |
Connection, TUN and test notifications show no banner while a V2Mac window is in front.
