MVP Demo Review — Milestone Report

This report summarizes the status of the MVP - Demo Review milestone — a short pre-MVP slot reserved for testing and bug fixing so the MVP demo is stable.

Status

Neither the backend nor the frontend went as smoothly as planned during this milestone — both sides still have missing pieces. That said, the general shape of the application has been obtained: the core structure is in place on both sides, and what is missing is completing the remaining functionality and wiring the frontend to the backend.

Backend

  • Most functionalities are working as expected.
  • Tests are skipped

Frontend

  • Not fully yet implemented.
  • Pages created with placeholder static values.
  • Needs to be wired up to the backend.

What Went Well

Even though the implementation work fell short of the plan, two things clearly worked well for the team during this milestone:

  • Communication. The team stayed in sync throughout the milestone — day-to-day updates on WhatsApp and the weekly meeting kept everyone aware of who was working on what, what was blocked, and what was changing.
  • Documentation of changes. Whenever a team member made a change on the codebase, they shared what they did in the group, which kept the rest of the team informed and made it easier to pick up work from one another.

Milestone Requirements: Not Fully Satisfied

We were unable to fully satisfy the requirements of this milestone. The main reason was the midterm exam period — most of the team had significant trouble balancing coursework with project work during this window, which caused a delay in progress.

Lessons Learned

To avoid repeating this delay in future milestones:

  • Estimate the exam workload of each team member before a milestone begins.
  • Plan task assignments around that estimate, giving members with heavier exam loads a lighter share during that period.
