1. Agenda

  • Discuss the Customer Meeting Notes #1

  • Address and clarify questions arising from the customer meeting

  • Discuss the requirements arising from the scenarios.

2. Key Points Discussed

  • Discussed methodologies for managing both point-in-time and periodic events.

  • Addressed how to handle regions that no longer exist and stories that do not belong to a specific geographic location.

  • Defined and refined the core functionalities of the application.

3. Decisions

  • The initial design proposed was using a timeline bar with both discrete points and overlapping colored bars. However, to avoid the visual clutter and potential confusion this would cause, the team has decided to transition to a point-only representation. To address the issue of overlapping or crowded points, a dynamic expansion (zoom) feature will be implemented, allowing users to distinguish between closely positioned events. To distinguish between periodic stories and point-in-time events, the team decided that each uploaded post must include a mandatory start date and an optional end date.

  • When a user wants to post about places that no longer exist, they may struggle to mark a specific location. Therefore, the team decided to approve posts that specify a general area rather than an exact point. Users should provide at least a province or a district. The concept of layered maps, which would allow users to view historical maps from specific time periods, was proposed. However, due to data scarcity and implementation complexity, the idea was discarded.

  • It was decided that all team members should re-evaluate the core functionalities of the application.
