Astrion Config Manager
Astrion Config Manager is a Home Assistant app (add-on) by @dvbit for managing the dashboards of one or more Astrion remotes from Home Assistant: a form editor, full version history, checks against your Home Assistant entities before sending, copying pages between remotes, and a live simulator.
🤝 Community project. Developed and maintained by @dvbit, not by Astrion. Questions and bugs about it go to its GitHub repository.
The remote's own web page and builder are enough for a single remote. The add-on is useful when:
- you have several remotes (living room, bedroom, office…) and want to manage them all from one place;
- you want to check every entity exists in Home Assistant before sending a dashboard to a remote;
- you want to copy a page from one remote to another;
- you want your dashboards' history inside Home Assistant backups;
- you want to try a dashboard on a simulator before sending it.
| Builder on the remote | Astrion Config Manager | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Browser, on the remote's web page | Home Assistant sidebar (Astrion) |
| Remotes | One at a time | All of them, in one list |
| Forms for every card | ✅ | ✅ |
| Undo / redo | ✅ (1.3.0) | ✅ |
| Version history | ✅ on the remote, last 30 + pinned (1.3.0) | ✅ every version, named milestones, in HA backups |
| Checks entities exist in HA before sending | — | ✅ sending is blocked on errors |
| Copy a page to another remote | — | ✅ with its icons, IR devices and links |
| Detects changes made on the remote itself | — | ✅ "Changed on device" |
| Simulator | Static preview | ✅ live states, and taps really run (HA, Harmony Hub, IR) |
| Shared icon library | — | ✅ missing icons uploaded on send |
| Needs | Nothing | Home Assistant OS or Supervised (apps/add-ons) |
Both work together: you can use the builder for a quick change and the add-on for the rest.
-
Settings › Apps (Add-ons) › App store › ⋮ › Repositories, add:
https://github.com/dvbit/ha-astrion-config-manager - Install Astrion Config Manager, start it, then open Astrion in the sidebar (administrators only).
- On each remote, check that Web page is on (Settings › Web configuration, port
8080). - In the add-on, + Add remote: name, IP, port
8080, screen size480×800, portrait. The current dashboard of the remote becomes version 1.
- Every send from the add-on is also kept on the remote (Astrion 1.3.0+): it appears in the builder's 🕘 Version history, so it can be restored from either side.
- A change made on the remote (its builder, its web page, its Settings) is reported by the add-on as Changed on device. You choose: import it as a new version, overwrite it, or ignore it. Nothing is applied on its own.
- New Astrion versions: the add-on follows each Astrion release and beta. Options it doesn't know yet are kept as they are, never removed. Check its changelog for the Astrion version it supports.
Tapping a light tile in the simulator turns the light on; an Activity tile starts the Activity (TV, amplifier, inputs). To just click through the pages, turn on Navigation only: the actions are listed instead of being run.
- Several remotes
