Summary

  • Fixes Uncaught ReferenceError: TOOL_CATEGORIES is not defined in ToolStatusLine.svelte — was crashing every time a tool ran, likely root cause of UI freeze (closes fix: TOOL_CATEGORIES not imported in ToolStatusLine.svelte #169)
  • Adds PerformanceLongTaskObserver in main.ts to log main-thread blocks ≥50ms to devtools console
  • Adds timing warnings to renderMarkdown/renderMarkdownFast (logs when render exceeds 20ms/10ms threshold)
  • Fixes 3 silent catch blocks in events.svelte.ts — now console.warn instead of swallowing errors
  • Fixes 401 on GET /api/system/update-status — TopBar now passes the auth token

Root Cause of #169

ToolStatusLine.svelte line 104 accessed TOOL_CATEGORIES[current.name]?.icon as a global, but TOOL_CATEGORIES is never imported. getToolCategory() was already imported on line 3 — the fix replaces the bare object access with the function call.

Vite doesn't type-check on build so this compiled silently and threw at runtime on every tool call. A Svelte $derived that throws stops updating, which explains why the UI appeared frozen during agent turns.

Test plan

  • Start a turn that uses tools — no ReferenceError in console, tool name/icon shows correctly in ToolStatusLine
  • Console shows [perf] long task Xms entries if any main-thread blocks occur during streaming
  • GET /api/system/update-status returns 200 (no more 401 in console)
  • Deliberately break a streaming SSE event — [events] SSE event parse error: appears in console

## Summary

- Fixes `Uncaught ReferenceError: TOOL_CATEGORIES is not defined` in

## Root Cause of #169

`ToolStatusLine.svelte` line 104 accessed
`TOOL_CATEGORIES[current.name]?.icon` as a global, but `TOOL_CATEGORIES`
is never imported. `getToolCategory()` was already imported on line 3 —
the fix replaces the bare object access with the function call.

Vite doesn't type-check on build so this compiled silently and threw at
runtime on every tool call. A Svelte `$derived` that throws stops
