7.9 The awards layer
The AWARDS layer paints your logbook's DXCC coverage on the Earth as a map
of what is missing. Every entity in the bundled country file gets a marker at
its nominal centre: orange and slowly breathing where you have never worked it,
amber where you have worked it but no QSL has come back, and a dim green dot
once one has. The gaps are what stands out — an evening's chase has somewhere to
aim. A key in the bottom-right corner counts the three states.
It follows the band filter in the AWARDS window
(§10.4), so setting that to 20m repaints the globe as
"what am I still missing on twenty". The layer needs the Earth to fill a fair
part of the view before it draws — three hundred markers on a planet a few
pixels across is noise, not information — and it is off by default. In the
browser tab it is absent entirely: the logbook lives in the main window, and the
relay carries live data rather than your records.
