  • VACUum - (Option 4): Remove Empty Space from Databases Without Optimizing
    • Overview: Instructs SQLite to remove empty/deleted records and gaps from the main and blobs databases. Most beneficial after deleting whole library sections. For most users, Automatic (see Automatic) is the better choice.

    • Availability: Runs only when Plex Media Server is stopped. Requires enough free disk space for the new copies. Refuses if either database fails its check and tells you to run Repair instead, unless the --force option is given (see Command line options).

    • Technical quirks & behavior: Each database is vacuumed into a new working copy and verified. Both must succeed before either is promoted; if either fails, nothing is promoted and your active databases are untouched. A successful promotion is recorded in History and can be undone with Revert.

    • Safety status: Safe — The active databases are replaced only after both new copies pass an integrity check.
