- DEFLate - (Option 23): Deflate a Bloated PMS Main Database
-
Overview: Repairs a known error in the main database
statistics_bandwidthtable, then purges all the errant data from the table, reducing the database size. This task can take a significant amount of time. It is frequently used when the database size is an order of magnitude above what it should be (e.g. 31 GB vs 206 MB). Reductions from 134 GB to 210 MB have been realized.Automaticwill deflate the database for you if needed. -
Availability: Runs only when Plex Media Server is stopped. Requires enough free disk space for the working copies. Runs a check first and refuses if either database is damaged (run
Repairfirst), unless the--forceoption is given (see Command line options). If the main database is not bloated, Deflate reports it is not required and does nothing. -
Technical quirks & behavior: Only the main database is changed; the blobs database is never touched. DBRepair prints an estimated completion time. A main database smaller than about 300 KB is refused, as it has too little content to deflate.
AutomaticandRepairautomaticallyDeflateas part of their processing. If commandDeflatefails, runAutomaticorRepairto correct the underlying damage. -
Safety status: Safe — Works on a copy of the main database. The result is promoted to active only after it passes a full integrity check, is recorded in
History, and can be undone withRevert.
