Loyal Companions has to be installed on the server and on every client. The server owns all companion data; the client draws the menus and the HUD.
- Server settings are in
config/loyalcompanions-server.properties, see Configuration. - When a player leaves a dedicated server, their companions are stored in their team slots automatically, so nothing can happen to them while nobody looks after them. They come back with one click.
Worlds from Loyal Companions 1.x keep working. The first time a companion or a player is loaded, their old data is converted:
- Companions out in the world keep their level, skills, rarity, behavior, injuries and items.
- Stored companions of a player move into their team slots, or into the archive when the team is full.
- Old Companion Totems are converted when you use them at the shrine.
Your HUD position and theme are new personal client settings, so set them once again under HUD & Theme.
Removing the mod removes all companion data. Companions out in the world turn back into normal animals; stored and archived companions and Companion Totems are gone.
