Notes from our meeting with Seena Ganesh, formerly VP of E-Commerce Technology at Nike
- Feedback
- Search β can be better
- How we search is super verbose, people are not providing actual information
- One place where AI could help
- One way to search for shoes in one way, in another way
- What exactly is the user thinking about?
- AirMax, trendy, β both are searching for AirMax
- Understand the feelings of the people
- Most time users donβt get what theyβre really looking for
- Ask more clarifying questions β not how much you can do that, theyβll lose interest
- Can recommend products, in addition to search
- Ask more clarifying questions
- You give new results β not causing
- Give results, refine the results
- Black dress β refining the engine
- Black velvet dress β ocould be better strapless, etc.
- Providing search help
- Give results, help you refine answer questions
- Recommendation is pretty strong β people with similar terms bought AirMax, similar terms, etc.
- Have to give initial results no matter what!
- Do something additional to make them
- Multimodality
- More e-commerce sites will see those patterns β bundling
- Some people like it, some people will be particular
- What is the budget, I donβt want the shoes, etc.
- If you can provide it as an additional function, more aware about fashion
- May not get immediate results
- Thereβs not a lot of interest β traditional bundling might not be the right thing
- Find me the right fashion outfit for a basketball game, casual outing, picnic
- Will use it as an auxiliary function just to know what itβs providing
- Search is a very interesting field
- No patience
- ChatGPT would provide me as an input
- Combine with recommendations based on industry and market trends
