Real Customer Profile

Our ideal target customer is best encapsulated by Seena Ganesh, the Head of Marketplace E-Commerce Technology at Nike.

Development of Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)

We're building a service that allows E-Commerce companies to easily integrate personalized semantic search into their applications. As a result, we think our ICP seems to be folks who are the head of E-Commerce/head of API integration at E-Commerce shops with medium-large number of items. We believe that these groups are most interested in the benefits of personalization and semantic search, and that the pressure to adopt AI in the enterprise will prove to be enticing.

Synopsis

We believe that in addition to the ICP of our business, there are other personal factors that make her an ideal target:

  • Naturally, her job is a great fit: we want stakeholders with buying power in charge of E-Commerce at big companies
  • Her education also makes her a good target: not only does she have a technical degree in computer engineering, but she also has an MBA. In many ways, she is able to understand both the complexities of the technology we're building as well as the business impact we're providing
  • She also has great key experiences: before Nike, she worked in various roles in E-Commerce at Ebay, Gap, and Walmart. It's also great that she was an IC herself before rising the ranks at other bigger corporations
  • During our conversation, she also seemed to have a personal taste for adopting new technology

Mediums/Methods for Outreach

We're currently in the midst of doing more customer discovery, but it appears as though the main channel will be doing cold outreach on LinkedIn. Using the Unusual Ventures template, we feel as though we've actually gotten a good hit rate with folks answering to our cold messages, so it's mainly a matter of increasing volume.

We also want to work through our immediate network -- warm intros are always great -- but want to be cautious of the type of feedback we get from friendlies.
