1. Give Directions

  • Describe how the team member will achieve the goal

2. Express Empathy

  • Talk about what is difficult
  • Talk about obstacles
  • Explain why you're concerned as a fellow human being

3. Make Meaning

  • Describe why the task is important
  • Connect to the organization's larger vision
  • Think about why people work for your company
