From Jen Munson

Yin Yoga

  • Paul Grilley - Yin Yoga
  • Sarah Powers - Insight Yoga

Anatomy books

  • Ray Long - Scientific Keys (2 books; one is Key Muscles of Yoga, other is Key Poses of Yoga...not the Bikram poses but a great way to learn the anatomy and be able to adapt it. He also has another set of books which breaks down families of postures)
  • Leslie Kaminoff - Anatomy of Yoga...another good book for anatomy
  • Andrew Biel - Trail Guide to the Body - great book on anatomy and how to identify the muscles & structures
  • Tom Myers - Anatomy Trains - great book exploring the myofascial meridians and linking how important fascia is to our movement

Other yoga related books

  • Bernie Clark - Your Body, Your Yoga - reading this one now and for the most part loving it although he & I feel a bit differently about a couple things. Very solid info though.
  • Katrina Kenison & Rolf Gates - Meditations from the Mat - so many relatable thoughts, feelings, emotions about life & our yoga practice
  • Timothy McCall - Yoga as Medicine - I checked this out from the library at one point and I think it had some good info but also stuff that made me mad if I remember right, so try it on for size & see what you think. 😉
  • Mukunda Stiles - Structural Yoga Therapy - good information that will help you see issues students might be having and possibly some guidance to give them as well.

Websites

  • Yoga Medicine - Tiffany Cruikshank...who would I BE if I didn't recommend the resources & articles on Tiffany's site??? Haha. There really are some great articles as well as other resources, so just do some exploring, but here's a link to get you started...https://yogamedicine.com/main-forum/
  • Ray Long also has a website called www.dailybandha.com/ that has some excellent stuff on the blog. He is an MD and super anatomy savvy, so I like his stuff
  • Amy Matthews has a yoga anatomy website & newsletter with 3 - 6 minute videos as well as further online study courses. I just get the weekly newsletters, so here is the link where you can sign up. http://embodiedanatomy.net
  • Leslie Kaminoff also has a yoga anatomy website & newsletter...same spiel as with Amy. You can sign up for his newsletters here: http://yogaanatomy.net
  • YogaUOnline - great shortish articles, occasional free webinars, and not terribly priced online CE seminars
  • Yoga International - you can read 5 articles/month for free if you sign up & they have some good stuff...not worth the monthly subscription fee to me though
  • Yoga Journal - do I read it? Yes, but it isn't always the most impressive and I probably won't renew after my subscription expires
  • Yogaglo - you already know about. Lots of good teachers, only one I have NOT liked is Amy Ippoliti...she's the 'click your toenails'/bad bangs chick. Haha.

Other stuff worth checking out

  • Paul Grilley - Anatomy for Yoga - DVD...super good since he uses real bodies and it will help you understand what may be anatomical limitations students can't get past and what they can. He also has a great Yin Yoga DVD.
  • Gary Kraftsow is worth checking into. He does a lot of yoga therapy & has a method called Viniyoga that is super gentle. I have borrowed his videos from the library & found them useful
