Start with a production problem. Learn to represent data, configure conditions, compare plans and bring the result to the people responsible for deciding.
DecisioWorks supplies production-decision building blocks. These eight topics and 24 lessons help manufacturers, developers and partners apply them through case reading, configuration explanations, exercises and suggested answers.
For manufacturing semantics, field configuration and reproducible calculations, open the Standardized Data Interface Guide. It covers the semantic model, 18 tables and 105 fields, relationships, configuration patterns, nine lessons and a complete exercise download.
| Your task | Suggested sequence |
|---|---|
| Define a problem and compare plans | A → D → H |
| Integrate data and configure conditions | B → C → D |
| Coordinate planning levels | C → E → H |
| Develop applications and Agents | B → C → F → G |
| Organize enterprise or partner learning | A → F → D → H |
These are task-based reading sequences. Each topic's Preparation and Outcomes section links to useful prior lessons and identifies the records to produce. Follow the question you need to answer rather than reading every page in order.
The course combines worked exercises with recorded runs. Exercises state their assumptions and calculations; stamping and injection-molding cases retain the dates, configurations and results of v1.4.0 runs. Understand the conditions before examining differences and explanations.
| Learning mode | Materials needed | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Reading and hand calculation | Lessons, case tables and worksheets | Field interpretation, unit conversion, metric checks and comparisons; no installation needed |
| Scenario discussion | Classroom situations or confirmed business information | Rule definitions, release decisions and responsibilities; missing conditions remain open questions |
| Execution and development | Data copy, complete recipe, compatible dependencies and valid authorization; a test environment for development | Integration, baseline solving, recalculation and extension tests, supported by actual output |
For hands-on work, use Quick Start to check the environment and entry point, following the instructions in your release package. Consult the Glossary for terminology. You can complete reading and discussion before a runtime is available; label proposed configurations separately from executed results.
Define the scope, commitments and adjustable conditions before comparing plans. These lessons develop a scenario brief, a validation design and a comparable result record.
- A1 Define a Decision Task from a Delivery Problem
- A2 Validate First: Design a Useful Planning Comparison
- A3 Compare Two Plans on the Same Basis
Trace orders through products, operations, resources and materials, then align them on a common time axis. Learn to inspect business meaning as well as column names.
- B1 From Business Tables to Computable Objects
- B2 Process Routes and Operation-Level BOMs
- B3 Align Time, Capacity and Material Availability
Separate facts, constraints, preferences and measures requiring approval, then express them through data, objectives and rule interfaces. Explain the trade-offs and their practical effects.
- C1 Distinguish Facts, Constraints and Preferences
- C2 Explain the Trade-Offs between Objectives
- C3 Turn Shop-Floor Experience into Checkable Rules
Read the published v1.4.0 stamping and injection-molding records through inputs, configuration, execution and results. Then assess other cases by their data characteristics.
- D1 Stamping Planning: Read Demand, Capacity and Materials Together
- D2 Injection Molding: Explain Attributes and Changeovers
- D3 Choose Cases by Their Data Characteristics
Connect planning levels through release conditions, deviations and signals. Clarify what each level owns, what it passes on and how the effects of a change are reviewed.
- E1 From the Master Plan to Work Release and Scheduling
- E2 Express Changes as Plan Deviations and Signals
- E3 Define the Scope of a Disruption Response
Place changes in the appropriate layer and preserve data, rules and workflows as reusable assets. Manufacturers, consultants and software partners collaborate through shared interfaces.
- F1 Locate the Layer That Should Handle a Change
- F2 Preserve Experience in Data Assets and Industry Templates
- F3 Define Roles for Manufacturers, Consultants and Software Partners
Read recipes, choose extension points and write reviewable Agent tasks. Explicit inputs, outputs and statuses let automation and human operation share capabilities.
- G1 Read and Modify a Capability Orchestration Recipe
- G2 Extend a Capability with a Clear Calling Interface
- G3 Write an AI Agent Task That Can Be Reviewed
Keep reviewable conclusions from each run and build the next adjustment on previous experience. Cover result review, ongoing operation and cross-functional learning.
- H1 Review a Plan from Run Status to Business Conclusion
- H2 Move from a Small Trial to Continued Operation
- H3 Run a Cross-Functional Plan Review
- Worksheet: Scenario and Decision Task
- Worksheet: Baseline and Adjusted Plan Comparison
- Worksheet: Operational Rule and Verification
- Worksheet: Review and Change Record
Explain the problem, data, constraints, trade-offs and results in your own words and keep the records. A useful learning outcome lets another person review the reasoning and identify who should act next.
