Nether Depths Upgrade
Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge: this page documents that build and its measurements. For the separate 170-control Minecraft 1.21.1 port, see Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge.
One control for Nether Depths Upgrade 3.1.5-1.20 (mod id netherdepthsupgrade): the Hell Strider check decodes the boots' enchantments once instead of twice. The switch checks the code it would change against the tested build; another build is left untouched with one WARN line (see How the patches are applied).

What upstream did. The lava-movement callback decoded the feet item's enchantment map to test for Hell Strider and, when present, fetched the same equipped stack and decoded the map again to read the level.
What the patch does. Reuses the first method-local decoded map for the level lookup for ordinary player classes. Custom player subclasses keep the second equipment read and decode; the native fixture includes Better Combat and Vivecraft equipment hooks, and a stateful subclass that changes boots between the reads still performs both reads and uses the second result.
What stays the same. Both tick phases, the present/absent distinction including a stored level of zero, exact motion arithmetic, fluid reads, coordinate casts and movement setters; no enchantment data persists between callbacks.
Measured. Hell Strider present 1,116.26 → 557.63 ns (−50.0 %), 1,144 → 632 B; the no-enchantment case keeps its 216 B and showed no regression in the longer run.
Bons and Furious is licensed GPL-3.0-only with upstream notices retained. Target mod names identify compatibility targets and do not imply endorsement; their code, assets and licenses remain their authors' property. All measurements on this wiki are focused method, phase or reproduction measurements from the pack the mod was built for, taken on the historical build named in each entry; they are not whole-game FPS or TPS promises and are not additive.
