Slice and Dice
Minecraft 1.20.1 / Forge: this page documents that build and its measurements. For the separate 170-control Minecraft 1.21.1 port, see Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge.
One control for Slice & Dice 3.6.0 (mod id sliceanddice): its wet-air checks are answered from the chunk's block lists. The switch checks the code it would change against the tested build; another build is left untouched with one WARN line (see How the patches are applied).

Slice & Dice: the wet-air checks are answered from the chunk's block lists. Slice & Dice looks for its sprinklers' "wet air" all the time: at every mob on every tick (to put fires out), and above every spot the game asks "is it raining here?", even on dry days (three blocks or more each time). Each look is a chunk lookup and a block read. A 16x16x16 section of a chunk can only hold the blocks on its block list, and a section that holds only air reads as air (wet air counts as air). So when the lists of the sections involved show no wet air, Slice & Dice's answer is already known: no wet air. The check then answers after one chunk lookup. Wherever wet air is listed, Slice & Dice's own check runs, so sprinklers work exactly as before. None of its code is copied. The one internal difference, by design: the original's lookups can add a chunk ticket that lasts one tick; the new lookup adds none. Blocks, mobs, fire, saves and visuals are unchanged; at most a border chunk that lost all its other tickets in the same tick starts unloading one tick earlier.
Measured: offline on the real classes, 939,000 checks with identical results and fire handling (every kind of block list, crops, dried-up wet air, refilled lists, unloaded chunks, other threads); the is-it-raining check 58-82 -> 22-34 ns even with the original's chunk lookups all hitting the cache (in game they also miss it and add tickets). Before, about 1% of the server thread in our pack.

Target mod names identify compatibility targets and do not imply endorsement; their code, assets and licenses remain their authors' property. All measurements on this wiki are focused method, phase or reproduction measurements from the pack the mod was built for, taken on the historical build named in each entry; they are not whole-game FPS or TPS promises and are not additive.
