Background: Charlatan
You have never met a mark you couldn't read or a story you couldn't improve. Somewhere along the way you learned that the truth is not as important as your objective. Facts are to be used or set aside as the moment asks, and most people will believe a nice story over their own eyes. You mastered people, and learned how to move them, scare them, or even inspire them. Whether you turn that gift on the needy, the corrupt, or anyone with a full purse is your own affair. But a life of masks has shaped you into someone you barely recognize, and brought you enemies who would like their gold back.
You are never only one person. You can be a grieving widow, a visiting dignitary, a healer with a miracle cure, or a nobody not worth a second glance, complete with the reputation, the papers, the quick hands, and the steady nerve to carry it off. You keep at least one false identity fully dressed: a name, a history, papers that pass inspection, and people who will swear they have known that name for years. Given time and something to copy, you can forge a document to suit almost any need, from a letter of introduction to an official writ. The danger, and the opportunity, is that a good lie takes on a life of its own: sooner or later someone comes looking for the person you invented, wanting something only they can give.
