Few people reach the highest levels of education: a University, an Academy, the {scool} School. Somebody paid for yours. A family that could not afford it, a patron with expectations, or years of your own life signed away in advance: the door opened, and you have been paying for it ever since. You have watched a master do something impossible, and you knew it would be worth it. You draw diagrams, write notes, and watch closely. Then you practice, practice, and practice, until you can replicate your own wonders. Good is not good enough. You have to be perfect. You are not finished. You may never be. But you have already seen what knowledge does to a room, to a wound, to a mind, to a system... and you would gladly trade years of your life to master it. Knowledge is power. Power to change things. To make them better. To give back what you received.
There is a bond unique to learning together. You made friends, you made rivals, you even made enemies. All of them, you know them better than their families do. You helped a classmate prepare for a challenge, and unexpectedly received a pen worth a year's salary. You needed help when you were sick, and somebody gave you their notes and brought you a warm meal. You celebrated together, and mourned together. Now those bonds stay with you. You may find colleagues now working in positions of power, making the best of their skills and knowledge. They have goals, and so do you. But you can still help each other. Your network is tight, and refusing to participate and help others may cut you off completely, but favors move like waves on a string. You may find a name, a job opportunity, a document that was meant to stay hidden, or a door left open after hours. But others may come to you with their own favors to ask. You are part of the team, so will you play your part?
